Alexander impressed me there, some other people could of made a big deal out of that if they wanted.

He did. Far better than Ken deserved. He's coming across as deliberately provocative and extremely ignorant.

Alexander dealt with it brilliantly.

Was this the next part of Ken's plan to be evicted? The others had a word with him about being misogynistic so now he's being racist?! Is he THAT stupid?

Embarrassing really, the way he went on about how black kids had a name too. Ugh,

Alexander handled him pretty well and with more dignity than he deserved..

I don't think he was intending to come across as racist, it was just very poor taste. Alexander handled that really well, others might have flown off the handle and claimed racism, good on him.

He's just a cretin. His attitude to women stinks and his comment to Alexander was ridiculous.

Alexander handled that situation so well and Ken showed himself not to be a very pleasant person.

Quite.

I'm suprised that Ken is still there but the fact he hasn't been removed is probably due to the fact that Alexander chose to handle it with dignity.

Yes, in 1963. Things have moved on somewhat since then.

Shocked by what I just heard! The term 'negro' harks back to when blacks were slaves. Alexander handled it well, but as a black American, it must have hit a nerve. Even more shocking by what he then went onto say about black children. He needs to go!

Correct. It wasn't racist at all by intent, but it was inappropriate. A nuanced reaction is wise, here.

It wasn't the use of the word. It was the context in which he used it which was offensive.

What's most disappointing is that he doesn't care how he comes across because he's retiring soon anyway, like dignity doesn't matter to him at all. I'd hate to reach that point in life.

I despair i really do. Negro is a word to describe someone of Black ancestry. Caucasian is a word to describe someone of White ancestry.

They are black Americans, reclaiming the N word and putting it in another context. Ken used it as a clear put down to Alexander. It's not acceptable!
