Yes the 2014 Moto G with 5" screen is 3G only with dual SIM, although a single sim version is available, it's the dual SIM model sold in the UK mostly.
Rumours suggest a 4G model coming out sometime in near future....hopefully with dual SIM
Yes you're absolutely right, but the OP asked if the latest Moto G was 3G only which is indeed the case.
Order of Moto G availability is:
Moto G 3G first generation 4.5" screen (Nov 2013) Moto G 4G first generation 4.5" screen (May 2014) Moto G 3G second generation dual SIM 5" screen (Sept 2014)
I wonder if the new 4G version will be single sim again for the UK market?
The dual SIM hasn't been a popular phone with the networks, not sure if any of them put the 2014 dual sim out on contract, whereas the 2013 3G model has been.
Maybe Lenovo/Motorola aren't too worried about sales via networks and just aim for sim free sales via other outlets.
It must be said that Motorola just seemed to be courting confusion by not giving the second generation Moto G a more distinctive model name - e.g. Moto G2 would have worked fine.

Yes, same with their Moto X, great names but confusing as hell.... especially the Moto G coming in at 3G, then going to 4G then going back to 3G must have caught some people out. There's not even any branding on the phone except the M or when you remove the back cover to see the version!
Great phones though, still very pleased with my vintage Moto G, mark1
