He made some flirtatious jokes that came across as creepy from a man of his age, but surely these differences in character is the whole psychological point in Big Brother?

What about the countless times female housemates have made sexist comments about male housemates in the history of BB? What about when young male housemates make crude and flirtatious comments against women, and the women have no issue?

His Negro comment was maybe deserved to be ridiculed, but it was not done out of spite, and Alexandra had shut him down on that, and that is the learning process.

With all these warnings, what is the point in the program? Ageist program...

His conversation with Alexander was deliberately provokative and offensive. His comments about women were misogynistic.

I am appalled that anyone would want to defend this man and not understand how repugnant his behaviour was. It has nothing to do with age.

Of course his age plays a factor... I see many people make those kinds of comments with Black people, particularly of age, and Alexandra clearly did not mind, but he understood that a many black people will find it offensive.

His comments about women were no different to comments made in the past by younger men... His comments about womens ass is flirtatious... What the hell was so misogynistic about thaT? Hes a freaking man... Of course hes going to find female behinds attractive. PC country...

Absolutely agree. How anyone can defend him and use his age as an excuse, I really don't know. He's 71, not 101. My mum is older than him and has never spoken in that way, so his age is no excuse.

If he's maybe been talking about Alexander in general conversation and said coloured rather than black, then his age could have been used as an excuse but, the language and the context that he used - no way excusable

I'm not sure what his agenda is. It seems as though he wants everybody to hate him. His mimicry of a southern red kneck saying "I got me a Negro" was pretty inflammatory. What on earth was he thinking?

Also, going on to the women about looking at their bums while they were in the bathroom was inflammatory too. What is it with him?. I find him nasty and creepy.

I am talking about his comments towards females. Also, am I also not aware that the negro is used from rappers, it is also used in a light hearted context amongst peers, and so on...

Most of you guys in this forum are so out of touch, it hurts.

The knew exactly what Ken was like when they asked him to go into the house, so why are they warning him?

Picanninny has ALWAYS been offensive, it's not a word that is ever used in an inoffensive way. It proved that his goal was to offend.

It is not irony since I acknowledged that the majority are out of touch in the context of my argument, if I had said, some of you guys are out of touch, then it would have been irony.

Most people do not understand how certain people interact in certain surroundings, i.e. streets, or celebs etc, therefore most people will be out of touch in that regards, and thus jump on their sanctimonious pedestal and complain enough to feel all high and mighty.

They probably wanted him to do his thing for a small spike in ratings, then warn him so they wont receive backlash.

The guy is a complete jerk. He had chance to resurrect his career on this show. He has proved why no one wants him around.

I disagree - Alexander clearly did mind, but had the sense handle it in a mature way. The "pickaninny" comment didn't help matters either. And you can see why here https://abagond.wordpress.com/2010/0...ny-stereotype/

I think the women would find a young man making the same salacious comments offensive.

It's his delivery. It's very pointed and designed to cause a reaction. He's a WUM. He wants a reaction. Not sure why, but he must know how people will react.

Hes just very honest, and does not act up for the camera.

I bet you we ALL have some questionable views, and I can tell you know my views will also come across as sexist, but Great Britain, the country of free speech will not want me to spread my views. Even if they are logical...

Lets not lie... I have seen countless times, where young men have wolf whistled, and the reactions from women are usually along the lines of laughter or flirting.

The young man has to be good looking though. Women are generally quite shallow in that regards... If an older woman had made Kens comment with the men in the house, I highly doubt there would be offense.

Might as well Godwin this and ask what did Hitler do that was so bad.

If you need Ken's bad behavious explained to you OP, I worry that the explanations may be lost on you. It has nothing to do with his age either.

So you're saying you never hear these kinds of flirtatious comments amongst young males, especially on nights out?

Men are Men, and if women are going to be out in sexualised or revealing clothes, then some men are bound to make comments... Simple.

But since we live in an ageist country, the men have to be young

You have to take everything in life in context. For example, would Ken be making the same comments about wanting to look at women's bums iif the women in question were in their 70s? I doubt it.

Fact is young people are more attractive than old people (a generalisation, I know) but biologically, a young attractive woman is not likely to find an overweight man in his 70s attractive, so this makes a difference to the context in which she receives his comments.

I completely agree, and very sensible comment. But in the same context, if we are to believe equality for all ages and sexes, then we should accept a 70 year old mans right to say this to young women.

If we dont accept this, then we must also accept that not all sexes and ages are equal. Which I personally believe to be true.

Haha.

Even in the 70's I think most people would have considered a line such as 'what I need to get the ovens going is a nice, big fat negro' as racist.

Agree with you comment about how Alexander handled the situation but totally disagree with the other bit. If it had been Callum who made the comments, all the little "girlies" in there would have been laughing and giggling over it, and you know deep down inside that that's correct.

Being a man who is rather familiar with both going out, consuming alcohol and attractive women, I still know full well what is acceptable and what is not.

I have as much red blood as the next testosterone fuelled chap but I somehow manage to control my cave man animaliistic instincts and resist groping, touching up or exposing women's breasts on nights out without their permission.

Anyone who suggests that men will be men or that we cannot help ourselves is talking out of their apologist, excuse making behind.
