Was there a reason why Too Much Love didnt get a proper music video? It was just clips but I think it was recorded around 1988 and seems a shame we didnt get a music video with new footage or in the studio like I want it All did.
Me personally I would have loved to seen Freddie do a solo concert with all his later hits had he not got ill and passed away. I guess this was a reason the live tours ended in 86 or was their another reason? From the last doc I saw it mentioned him not knowing he had the virus till 87 time. If you was going to recommend a documentary for a fan who hasent seen any whats the best one to go for that has interviews with the man and goes over the songs he did in his later life? Freddie was actually diagnosed with AIDS not just HIV in 1987. The doctors told him he would be lucky to make 1989 let alone 1991. So that's why the touring stopped. Freddie had actually said to the band in 1986 that he did not want to tour anymore. However they just thought it was a phase. The last track on the Miracle is Was It All Worth It and that could have been Freddies swansong but he was survivng and they were able to make Innuendo. As well as three of the tracks that ended up on Made In Heaven. After 1985 Freddie gave no more interviews to anyone about his music or his life. So We have to go with the Interviews the Brian and Roger have given. To be honest the best one is Days of Our lives. Sadly most interviews about that period seem to only cover Freddies illness there is no in depth conversations about the albums. |

Too Much Love was recorded for possible inclusion on The Miracle album. However it was shelved and Brian May recorded a Solo version in 1991. When Made In Heaven was being put together in 1995 they included the Queen version there.

I didnt see it all so cant be certain if it contained any footage of songs or if they detailed the Im going Slightly Mad song. Im guessing its the one where Taylor calls the press a W word because of them hounding Freddie for 18 months and those horrible articles on the front page. Hopefully it has the Brit Awards footage. |

The concert at the Rainbow which was released last year is a superb concert - Queen without any synths etc...provided you like Queens first three albums you'll love it. if you prefer the later stuff then it probably won't interest you
Apparently Freddie wanted to get away from playing a lot of piano during concerts in the 80's so he could engage more with the audience |

Was the jumper yellow or defiantly orange. As he wore a yellow jumper in the Headlong video. Ref DVDs with Freddie. The Rainbow gig is just wonderful, best DVD I have bought in years. If a review says don't bother they do not know what they are talking about.
Other concerts in the 70s were filmed Hammersmith 1975, Hyde Park 1976, Huston and Earls Court 1977 and Hammersmith 1979. None of these have been released yet. However Hammersmith 1975 has been rumoured for a while. There was going to be a third volume of Greatest Flix. This has been delayed for years. I think one reason is because Brian and Roger do a commentary on them. Those last videos are a bit painful to see. So maybe Brian and Roger don't want to do this yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivbO3s1udic Is deff orange and the word on the jumper seems lower. Quote:
Days of our lives is a very good documentary & is sad when Brian & Roger are talking about Freddies last days but if you want one more focussed on Freddie then there are a couple out there, the latest being "Freddie Mercury - The great Pretender"
Freddies work kept him going - his last video "these are the days of our lives" he could barely stand & his last vocal on "mother love" is fantastic Yeah I have to pick that one up. Ive heard the days vid he could barely walk compared to the mad one where he downed a few vodkas to give a performance. I thought these were recorded at the same time. Gotta give the guy props for being full of energy at how unwell he was. Thats very inspiring. |

I think Hammersmith, Paris & another show thats gone over my head in 79 is the only ones recorded. Is it wrong to miss the guy even though Ive never met him? What is the video called where a lady falls in his arms near a piano? I think its the same vid where they fall on a armchair. Did freddie wear a denim waistcoat in one of his later vids? 2 other clips I didnt recognise was him dancing in the middle of a crowd as they are holding a arm up, hes wearing white and the other clip was a madonna shirt in a yellow coat as he has a beard guessing its a later vid then they did a montage of bohemien intro but their older faces appear what was this from? |

What I did love about the interviews ive watched on the net is Freddie was very good at performing for the audience as in one he mentioned about he would listen and take notes on what the audience liked and hated. That is something Ive not come across any other singer do.

The video video when Freddie falls onto a chair & near a piano was for his solo single "I was born to love you" from Mr Bad Guy in 1985.

Did he film the great pretender at different times? As the studio set from i want to break free and when he bursts through the start of the song seems to be from diff times. |

I found this home made video of Gimmie The Prize. With clips from Highlander through it. Very good though Freddie and John hated this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZQUVZKrH3I |

Took a snapshot from 2 vids the one on the left is from too much long but on the right is headlong. Both taken from the queen youtube channel however the shirt looks different.
http://oi59.tinypic.com/154wnrq.jpg Is their any difference between Lover of songs and the great pretender dvd documentaries? Both seem to have Freddies solo vids but wondered if the documentary is the same. |

This is one of My Favorite Queen Live vids. It's from Earls Court in 1977 and the intro from Freddie "Listen to me lovies listen" is great

How do you think Queen's legacy would have gone had after Freddie didnt want to tour anymore? Say for instance he quit as a singer. Would the remaining members still have continued or would that have been it?
Was watching a clip on youtube and it mentioned after Freddie died there was a drug a year later to help people with the virus that would have help Freddie to stay alive. If he had been able to stay another year and taken this drug how long do you reckon it would have kept him alive? |

His partner Jim Hutton died in 2010 so survived a long time after Freddie Don't think Freddie would have ever quit as a singer, or music. He may have explored more opera which he loved & there was a rumour that he was approached to play the phantom of the opera. Dave check out "ask phoebe" website. Peter Freestone was Freddie's PA for many years (up til his death) and on his website he answers questions from fans which may give you some more insight into Freddie |

I read somewhere that there was a drug that came out that may have kept Freddie alive. Doctors said he wouldn't make christmas 1989 but he got to 1991 when he chose to stop his medication.

BTW phoebe was his nickname. Freddie had names for everyone. Brian was Maggie, (Maggie May). Roger was Liz (Liz Taylor). John was Belesha as in Belesha Beacon. Elton John was Sharon. And Freddie was Melina. |

It may have although Kenny Everett died in 1994 of Aids. It is possible that they were both infected around the same time. They were not lovers but had shared partners. Kenny May have been taking this cocktail of drugs but he still succumbed as it was still relativley new.

Jim Hutton was HIV positive. However he did not die from Aids. He had Lung Cancer as he was a life long smoker.

The Russian guy was Nikali and he had a partner called Pepe. The tv programe When Kenny Met Freddie is on Youtube and is a Interesting if sad watch.
Just going through queen stuff Ive got on DVD. Days of our Lives, Under Review complete, Lover of Life, Made in Heaven. Im thinking of getting Great Pretender but unsure if its the same doc as Lover of Life, Singer of Songs. Live stuff I have Rock Montreal, Rio, The Bowl, Wembley, Buddapest & the 2 greatest video hits. Im not sure on Rainbow 74 as not heard any of their early stuff and reviews for the japan show hasent been good. I might get the Tribute concert from 92 as the 3 disk one was complete but aside from that anything else officially released? A few amazon reviewers say some titles are rebranded with diff covers in a way of misleading fans to double dip. Paul Bambericcini was on a couple I think. |

Love this clip Of Kenny and Freddie.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYpRkARK8Io You MUST get Rainbow 74 it is a wonderful concert. It contains tracks from the first 3 albums The picture and sound quality for a 40 year old concert is amazing Procession Now I'm Here Ogre Battle Father To Son White Queen (As It Began) Flick Of The Wrist In The Lap Of The Gods Killer Queen The March Of The Black Queen Bring Back That Leroy Brown Son And Daughter (Brighton Rock Guitar Solo Included here) Keep Yourself Alive Seven Seas Of Rhye Stone Cold Crazy Liar In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited Big Spender Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll Jailhouse Rock God Save The Queen Now of course it is pre Rhapsody but for me the albums between Queen and News Of The World are their greatest. with Queen II being my favorite album by them. This clip is from the concert It is not of the quality of the DVD but it shows what they were about back then. The Song is White Queen (As It Began) and it is a beautiful song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IIIwWDzFiU I have not stopped playing the DVD and associated CD Since I bought them. |

It amazes me how fans who have stuff on tube not officially released unless they recorded it off the tv as I dont recall hammersmith or paris getting a vhs release.
Just heard Mother Love and its a amazing piece that was the last thing Freddie did before he died. |

Ive just ordered the 3 disk Platinum album and wondered if it missed any of the good songs?
I know its basically Greatest Flix 1,2 & 3 and from looking at the tracks I think it pretty much covered all of the later stuff Freddie did. Mother Love seems to be absent from the album but anything else decent get missed off? |

Amazon have all 3 for £16 |
