But you could say the same thing about your opinions?! Everyone thinks their opinion is the correct opinion. That's why they hold that opinion!! We're all allowed to voice our opinions and debate them so really no idea what you're getting at here.

I agree about political correctness and how 'common sense' is never used when it comes to it (people just hear the words and not the context) BUT Ken is just too much and he knows exactly what he's doing.
Vile man.

Sorry but I don't buy what you're saying - clarifying the Gene Hackman line would take a quick google, you could have joined the debate on one of the many threads already up about this if you genuinely wanted to discuss it further.

Obviously you're entitled to your opinions but at the same time you must understand that some people will find them offensive, by their own merit, using their own thought process. To suggest that people who oppose your opinions haven't thought it through seems like a wind up to me.

As for your comments about Stephen Fry I suspect that you are not familiar with the original debate the quote came from, and that you don't quite understand him as well as you think you do. In fact, I find it quite funny that you're criticising the hypocrisy you see in Chloe in your first post, but praising Stephen Fry for demonstrating hypocrisy, and even suggesting that it is either a way of taking the p*ss out of people whom you feel don't match up to his/your intellectual standards (presumably me) or a "red herring" (for what purpose other than to make him look a bit foolish, I don't know).”

Well you certainly gave my reply some thought - 3 minutes to respond with a reply that looks as though it took 2 minutes 50 seconds to write. Which in reality is exactly my point.

I agree that googling for the answer would be an easy way to find out but that would be too easy - personally I prefer open debate which includes a structured thought process and potentially much more far reaching answers. I must admit I find it quite hard mentioning Chloe and Stephen Fry in the same paragraph lol. As you put it - you don't know and you won't get the answer from me.

Pah! It is foolish to judge other people's speed of thought process against your own. Not to mention their typing speed! Must try harder to wind me up

So obviously that's what this is about for you - it's ok for Stephen Fry to be hypocritical because he is better than Chloe to you. When he does it, it's part of a witty intelligent masterplan. Of course.

I imagine I won't get the answer from you because you don't know yourself!

As Stephen Fry once said - you're completely right and I fully agree with everything you say.

I must admit I do wonder - I'm trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Not sue what the circumstances were behind him leaving Corry Street but has since seemingly done very little other than a bit of panto and a few adverts.

I wonder if he ever went into Frank Carson's dressing room lol

That being offended doesn't really mean anything to anyone but you. It's a whine. It's not some magic silver bullet to win an argument or trump everyone else.

Who said otherwise?! I didn't.

Edited to add: just like I find your opinion of 'PC gone mad' a whine too.

The more people who understand them being offended doesn't mean anything more than a whine the better. It gives them no special rights or privilege. I'm glad you realise this. Spread the word.

Give her a wide birth - she's just an internet Troll disagreeing to annoy. The forum's are littered with her unfortunately.

After all lets face it - the younger generation are so PC and correct all the time - Of course its ok to be checked out if he's a young affluent business model type. Yes Ken might be having a perv lol but for god sake get over it - getting old doesn't remove all bodily senses. If you feel that strongly then put some effing clothes on.

The whole Negros thing was uncomfortable and might I think be down to a potential misunderstanding but no one ever try's to look behind the words. Can someone clarify if the line he used was the same line used by Gene Hackman in the film Mississippi Burning. Gene of course played the good guy who was trying to bring the KKK to justice. It would make sense as Ken is an actor. Bad choice of words but hey - treading on egg shells and having to watch your every word is what being over 40 in a democratic society is all about even though the film was a ground braking classic. Poor Ken is a White, Balding, straight, over 40's Male and as such is doomed lol. On a good note it's going to be ten times worse in 50 years time and our generation will not have endure this drivel on a daily basis anymore.”

Interesting post.

Do you find it such hardship to not offend people or are you wanting to disrespect people on the general principle that you should be able to say and do what you want?

Could you be a bit more specific please. My first paragraph was an opinion. The second a question.??

I'm beginning to realise that - they hate being challenged - I reckon they believe anyone who doesn't follow the "modern" way is a raving sexist Nazi or something. When you challenge them they quickly get tied up in the mire that is to be PC.

I don't see the hypocrisy. Are you saying you should be able to make comments but your afraid in case you offend. Or that the person wearing what they want, should not expect to be left alone and shouldn't be offended when what they are wearing draws comments?

In fact, nobody is going to win! The fact you think that people who say they're offended are trying to win says it all! We're entitled to our opinion, entitled to voice it and entitled to reply to you. I'm not trying to win, I'm just trying to be heard, as I'm sure others are, whatever their opinion is

Witnessing what we have in Paris last week, it illustrates all too clearly where the new and all important compulsion of 'taking offense' can lead.

The first point you make is odd as I have made a comment and it has offended people. I have replied to defend my comment and am therefore obviously not afraid or am I misunderstanding you.?

"should not expect to be left alone" to me would suggest he kept pestering but it was only one comment directed at the bathroom in general.

Definitely to the second half of your second reply. And I'm afraid we wont agree on this one. I'm a realist - not a PC ist.
