According to my Netflix, Doctor Who looks as if it is going away on February 1st. If you are taking your time watching it, I would suggest that you hurry up. This is in the US, so the UK might vary, I don't know.

I have been re-watching the 21st century Who before I watch Series 8 (the same way that one might re-read a series of books to familiarize oneself with the ongoing plot before reading the new one) and, since I don't have Series 2-4 physically (I am waiting for them to be released on Blu-Ray individually), I have been watching them on Netflix. Anyways, I noticed just the other day that it was going away so I have been doubling up my watching in order to get to The Specials (which I have, as well as Series 5-7, since it they have already been released on Blu-Ray) before they are removed. I would recommend that anybody who is watching them in the same fashion to finish up before Groundhog Day.

Looks like all BBC content is going down. Will probably return when renegotiated.

I thought it might be useful to know all C21 DW up to season 6 is available for free on Amazon Prime Video to Amazon Prime members. They have season 7 as well, but that's not free.

This won't affect me in the slightest, as I've got the series 1-8 DVD box sets individually, anyway. Plus, I've also got The End of Time, The Day of the Doctor and The Time of the Doctor.

I don't like to subscribe to things like Netflix, as I'm not sure how safe and secure my details are, afterwards. Also, I don't subscribe to any sites that ask for payment before I can do anything.

The only sites I have given my details to, so I can use them, are amazon, Digital Spy, Wikipedia and ITV Player. With those sites, it is totally free to sign in, and I don't have to pay.

Just to say, Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman have started filming again for another series. They started 8 days ago, and should be completely done by August. Hopefully!! Rumour is, that some of the filming will be done in Spain, just like with The Two Doctors, nearly 30 years ago.

Netflix is pretty secure so no worries there. They wouldn't have over 50 million subscribers. They wouldn't be as popular as they are if they had issues with what they do with card details. Also Netflix has a 30 day free trial so you can cancel before payment is taken

I much prefer shiny silver discs to streaming or download services myself, but they do have their uses. I'm an Amazon Prime member anyway so, for example, being able to access the uncut third series of Ripper Street for free before the BBC show the cut versions, was a boon for me. The BBC will be showing it (later this year, I think) but the episodes will be cut to fit 1 hour slots.

So in this case, it was exactly like a regular broadcast (and then deciding whether or not to get the Blu Rays).

Much of the rest of the free part of their catalogue was of little interest though. I guess Netflix is not very different. I already have the DW material on BD (or DVD if made in SD).

Not a fan of watching stuff online. Much refer a reliable disc watched on a wide screen telly. Of course needs must if you want to watch underwater menace 2.

Me too, but I don't have all of the Doctor Who as of yet; I am still collecting it. Until I do have it, I have been watching some of it through Netflix.

Also, I and others do still receive the discs from Netlfix (the way that it started).

BIB: For those who may not know, you don't need a computer to access these streaming services. You can watch streaming services (like Netflix, BBC iPlayer (or any catch-up service), Amazon Prime Video or YouTube on a telly if you have the right setup. Either a smart TV (the platform has to have the relevant app for the streaming service you want) or a set top box or, in my case, a PS3. Streaming Ripper Street was no different for me than watching a regular broadcast.

A decent broadband connection is, of course, a prerequisite.

Netflix has been great for me - good value. Any must-watch shows, I'm more than happy to grab on physical media, but it's just very convenient to have so much content available through the day, throughout the house & on the go.

Introduced me to a lot of stuff I probably wouldn't have otherwise watched while flicking through, to be honest. All in pretty good quality on the TV, too.

Agreed. And as GDK mentioned above, I watch Netflix while I am at my computer while I play World of Warcrack on the other screen, but I also watch on my TV through my PS3. Heck, that is the main reason that I bought a PS3 - for Netfix streaming and to use as a Blu-Ray player. I hardly ever play games on it.

Good News! It looks as if Netflix listened to the customer base and cut a deal with the BBC in order to keep Doctor Who (and other shows) around. Hooray!

Don't think listening to fan base had anything to do with it. They just renegotiated the rights. Same thing that happened last year when the rights almost ran out in the uk
