Hi,
My mum-in-law has an HDR Fox T2, bought a year or so ago. It is not currently connected to the internet (the router is at the other end of the house). She occasionally watches programmes on BBC iPlayer on her laptop, but would prefer to do so on her (not-smart) TV, and has asked me what her options are.
I see from the FOX-T2 instruction book that it has an iPlayer app, so one option is to run a cable from the router to it, but before planning to do so I'd appreciate some help:
- I know that the BBC provided a new iPlayer recently and broke some older equipment. Does the FOX-T2 version still work? It's running standard firmware, version unknown, and I don't want to install any of the custom builds. I'm too far away to sort out problems for her! I can certainly update it to a new official firmware release.
- If it works, is the iPlayer on this box any good, in terms of quality/usability? Her internet connection is ~16Mbit/s, so no problem there.
- An alternative is a NowTV box, which I have and it works well. Unfortunately I'll only be visiting her for a few days, so I need to organize anything like that before I go so that it's waiting for me. I don't want to get there and find the Humax doesn't work, since it will be too late to order a NowTV box & install it.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
