Hi,

I've got a Sony KD55X8505BBU which I want to connect to my Audio System. Which connector do I use on the rear of the TV?

It depends on your audio system. What have you got?

It's either going to be optical or HDMI I suspect.

Hi Stig, thanks for your reply.

I want to connect it to an Arcam A75. It doesn't have Optical but many other inputs.

I used to run my old Sony through it.

After reading the Manual it shows a connector at the bottom of the TV but I must have missed it!

Graham.

Again, you haven't mentioned what inputs your amp has - 'a lot' isn't much use

But audio outputs on the TV are:

HDMI (ARC)
Optical
Analogue (via 3.5mmm stereo jack) - configurable as line or headphones, variable or not.

Cheers Nigel,

I did try the Headphone out but the signal was very low. Maybe I need to configure it for Line level then?

With Sony TVs it is possible to control the headphone volume independently of the speaker volume usually. Therefore it could simply be that the headphone volume is turned down.

It may also be possible to set it to a variable level line out mode as well so that you can control the volume from the TV remote rather than the amp.

Cheers Chris,

Reading the manual again and it appears what you say is correct. Time to experiment when I get home.
