...man, that IS a pain in the @SS!!!

That means every game I play, I have to manually go into its options and adjust the settings!!!

Playing ANY game and moving the Y axis camera in 'non-inverted' mode just feels totally alien (all you 'normal' 'non - inverted' players, need to read this : http://pjbelcher.com/2011/10/24/to-i...rted-controls/ )

Yup.

I simply can't play without inverting the Y axis.

1) Snap

You can "snap" something to the right-hand side of the screen, letting you e.g. have Achievements, or Friends, or Game DVR, or various other things open at the same time as a game.

You can Snap from the Snap tile on the Home tab, or you can "double-tap to Snap" by double-tapping the Xbox button (equivalent of the Guide button) on the controller to bring up the Snap Centre.
...blimmin typical!!! Now that I am learning to double tap the Guide button, to snap, the March X1 update is gonna change this and will introduce grabbing a screenshot of whatever you are playing, by double tapping the guide button, (source : Xbox One March Update) instead..!!

I'll have to re-train myself all over again!!!!

No you won't have to retrain yourself from what I've seen you will get a new option to press Y to take a screen shot and the rest of the options look to stay the same.

..ok cool. But just to clarify - currently, when I double tap the guide button (no matter how fast I double tap), I do NOT get the first screenshot shown under 'Snap Functions' here:

https://www.avforums.com/threads/xbo...#post-21470516

....mine just goes to the second screen shot (that article was posted in Dec'14 so its possible the X1 updates since then, have taken the first step out?) - EVERY time?! AM I doing something wrong?

The updates haven't taken that first step out.

Maybe it's just a timing issue with your double-tapping, as it works for me as it is supposed to.

Can you go to the menu Settings/system/about console and confirm you are running the latest software version of 1502? If not then this could be be part of your issue.

If you can't get it to work you may want to contact the Xbox Support team to see if they can help.

...no - its definitely not a timing thing as I have tried different speeds!!

...can't check at the moment as I am not near the console, however, pretty sure I am running latest version as the 'Updates' section shows nothing available (it updated when I initially set it all up). Can you give me a feature which should be on the latest version - I will be able to tell you if I have used/seen it on my dashboard (without me having to check on the console version itself)?

Double-tab-Xbox will still bring up the Snap Centre. What's changing is that it will now have "Press Y to save a screenshot" in addition to "Press X to record that" and the snap-related D-pad options.
Matt posted the above in the other thread - you see, I don't even see the 'Press X to record that' option, either?

And also, come to think of it, a few times when I double tapped, up came a message to say I needed to download snap centre from the MarketPlace (and it redirected me to Bing to type in the name of the app - which I wasn't sure what to type in). Isn't 'snap centre' the SAME as the snap tile???!

That sounds very odd.

Snap Centre isn't something you download, it's just there.

As gds1972 said, maybe you need to contact support.

If you have Twitter, @XboxSupport can be helpful.

Cheers Matt.

I will double check the console dashboard version tonight and note down exactly what happens when double tapping the guide button.

Will go from there...........

Excellent that this thread is pinned. If we get any New owners we can point them in this direction.

deans6571 -

I've just tested the snap stuff.

This is how it works for me (how it should work):

If no game/app is running

Double-tap-Xbox opens the last run game/app *and* snaps the Snap menu (with its shortcuts for Messages, Achievements, etc. in the left-hand tab, and other apps in the right-hand tab). Once something is running, if you double-tap-Xbox again it opens the Snap Centre as normal.

If a game/app is already running

Double-tap-Xbox opens the Snap Centre, from where you can use D-pad Up to snap a new app, D-pad Down to unsnap what's currently snapped (if there is something snapped), D-pad Left to switch focus to the main game/app, D-pad Right to switch focus to the snapped app (if there is something snapped), and X to record the last 30 seconds of gameplay (with the March preview also having Y to save a screenshot).

......Matt, my man - you're a genius!!!!

I think this is exactly what is happening with mine also. Every time I double tap - I do NOT get the options you posted for 'When a game/app is already running'. This is because I have obviously NEVER double tapped within a game so obviously do not get them options. (I get this when I double tap : Double Tap when no game/app is running) I will ensure I double tap whilst in a game tonight, to see if I do indeed get the second set of options and will report back.

There is one other minor issue though.....

Last night, when I turned my Xbox on, I went to the Home screen and double tapped the guide button and got this:

Please Download App

I don't always get this message when I double tap, it comes up very randomly, however, it is not the first time I have seen. It weird because it doesn't state what app it actually wants me to download?!

Could this be because I might have an app tile highlighted, which I have not downloaded (on the previous screen) and when I double tap, its asking me to download that app?!

I've had that message pop up from time to time. Even when trying to start disc-based games, usually when swapping game discs. Seems the X1 doesn't like switching games too fast. I just do a hard reset (hold down power button for 5 seconds, wait 30 seconds (some people like to unplug from the wall too but I don't) then switch back on) and everything's dandy.

....I don't think thats the issue though (for me at least) because this has happened when just double tapping the guide button from the Home screen, and not from playing a disc game (have actually played ANY disc games yet).

Do you think it could just be a glitch then (perhaps the console gets confused and throws up the message)?

Yeah, I think it happens when you try doing something too quickly and gets stuck. The example of it popping up for physical discs is that it shouldn't happen at all with them as the verification comes from the disc.
It's also popped up when trying to access the store and friends list.

Have you tried the hard reset before? It fixes most issues.

...no, not tried a hard reset - what does it actually reset? If it means going through the whole Xbox One initial set up again (adding email address, choosing dash colours, choosing profile pic, re-assigning pins, etc), then don't know if I'll bother with all that hassle!

No when we say a hard reset we mean reboot, so if you have the console set to Instant On mode you need to press and hold the power button for 10 seconds or so and it will shut the machine down completely. Then you wait for the power brick to go orange and you can start it up.

...right ok then. What I meant was that after the console has rebooted, will I then need to re-input all my settings again (like re-choosing colours, profile pics, backgrounds, etc + setting up my Xbox Live profile again)? Does a 'hard reset' erase all my settings?

No, you're fine.
It's more like the old, "Hello, I.T. Have you tried switching it off and on again."

Only return to factory settings will require a full restore. After the reset it'll take a little bit longer to boot to the dash but all will be normal.

Hi all - me again with a few more questions!!

Firstly, the issue I had with the 'double tapping' the guide button has been sorted - I just wasn't double tapping during a game so obviously wasn't seeing the appropriate screen!

Right, onto my questions!

1. Every night when I turn my Xbox One off (I have it set so that the power brick light shows white, when the console goes off), even though the Xbox logo on the console goes off, it 100% sounds like the console is STILL on! There are no background downloads going but it just sounds like there is a hard drive spinning or a fan still working, inside the console. Its as if it is cooling itself down or something (its not enclosed in a cupboard - it sits on an open shelf all by itself)!? Is the console supposed to do this (by the time I go to my console in the morning, the noise has stopped) ?

2. Kinect. I don't currently have Kinect but was wondering - are there any benefits to having Kinect connected to just the TV and NOT to a cable box? My Xbox One sits on the bottom of a glass shelf - could I place the Kinect on to of the console itself?

Thats it for now!
