"Barrowman said there will be three or four radio plays, though they haven't started recording them yet. One will feature the whole Torchwood team, the others will be "character-based." He said executive producer Julie Gardner and head writer Russell T. Davies are both involved. "It's the team back together."

Yay, even if it's only audio, it's still something though.

What Torchwood team?

Are the executive producers trying to remind broadcasters about Torchwood, hoping someone will commission a new TV series?

I hate myself for immediately understanding that reference...

Still, more Torchwood can't be a bad thing, and hopefully it might inspire a revival of some sort.

Yes!! Still think a new series or special could and should be made.

It will do for now, but I would love to see a British based TW series sometime in the future.

Dunno, did you not see Miracle Day?

'Children of Earth' was a masterpiece and understandably hard to beat. 'Miracle Day was just a disaster- thanks 'Starz' (not!) and did the franchise untold damage. A reboot with RTD and JG calling the shots would be welcome.

Of which only Jack and Gwen are still alive. Unless it's set in series 2.

True, but I suppose it can only go up from there! Right...?

Damn, now I'm angry at Miracle Day again for denying us Captain Jack in A Good Man Goes To War

I still think if they edited Miracle Day into a 5 or 6 part series it would be good. It was just way too long and disjointed.

That wasn't Torchwood though, not by any stretch of the imagination!

Little bit more on it here, but posted mainly because Metro are under the impression that Barroman plays a character called Captain Jack Sparrow! Which made my day!

Yippee!! I'm SO SO pleased!!!

Will definitely have to get those, once they are released on CD.

Does this mean that we get the team as they were in Miracle Day, with Mekhi Phifer back as Rex Matheson, or just with John and Eve?

Yes, it was still Torchwood. Shame the quality wasn't the same as it was back in Series 1 and 2.

When you say reboot, you don't mean start the programme all over again, with a clean slate, undoing everything that has happened so far?

What I would do, for Series 5, is have either Captain Jack Harkness, or Gwen Cooper, wake up one morning, and say that they've just had the strangest dream. So, that being the case, Miracle Day would have only happened in someone's dream, one night.

That's one solution to the problem of having a substandard series.

I didn't think that it was too long. No way! I grant you, some of the writing was a bit below the usual or required standard at times, but I'm happy with MD being a ten parter.

What I'm not so happy with, is why TW Children of Earth was only in five parts. I'd have been happier with it being 8 or 9 episodes long.

I wonder if anyone else agrees with that.

Certainly a special, to tie up any loose ends that there may be. I'd welcome that!

They should let Big Finish have the audio rights, that would be amazing.

I hated Children of Earth and Miracle day was absolute rubbish. Totally not interested in Radio Plays of any sort, anyhow. Seasons 1 and 2 were flawed but enjoyable. Anyhow, I can't see Barrowman finding time for this as he's in Arrow all the time and not in the UK very often. He's doing a tour later this year but presumably will be straight back to Arrow afterward and all those Comic Cons he seems to frequent.

I think doing more radio plays is a good move. I'd love more stories with the full team but John and Carol created a an interesting world with Exodus Code which had Rex in it.

Torchwood did not leave any loose ends. I stopped caring about it when they started killing off the main cast. Killing lanto was the final straw for me. I liked children of earth apart from the cafe scene with a hungry gwen and I cant remember his name having pie and chips. No gravy or mushy peas with it. What was that all about?
