Willow should not be included for this season. Neither should any contestant under 18. It just comes across uncomfortable and they're doomed to lose. Just look at Zendaya.
Noah is not a good signing either. I don't agree with his participation on the show just like I was unwelcoming of Amy Purdy who ruined her season when she was on. However, she was with Derek so that explains the ridiculous overmarking she got. Derek is just urgh!!! I reckon he realized he is nothing without DWTS and America does not care for him outside the show. So now he come back "of his own free will" lol, Don't think so. You came back for $$$$$ we all know it. Plus bragging rights for another trophy with a ringer. Michael Sam <333 Other than that I will see for the night they all dance. BTW Robert need not bother turning up, he is first out. Urgh at just seeing the Bachelor star on this!!! LOL not looking good. Like Len this might be my last season of DWTS. A spectator to the Press Preview of New York Spring Spectacular wrote the following: Quote:
I was lucky enough to see a good portion of the press preview of NYSS, which wasn't all the scenes but some and Derek is in quite a lot and the Singing in the Rain tap number is insane. And you totally don't get why he came back.Derek and Laura both sing and share at least one duet that we were shown. The special effects in this production are amazing. I have a feeling I am going to be obsessed with the SitR tap number. Derek and Jared are beyond incredible together, you could literally hear gasping and people whispering "oh my" from the audience as they performed that piece with the Rockettes. It's was Derek on a level that I have never seen him on DWTS or even Move Live. There was a lot of talk by the Broadway press there that Derek would probably never return to DWTS after this show because the Broadway producers were going to move quickly to lock him in after the run. I can't wait to see the full show on the 12th. 1) He never wanted to miss Season 20 in the first place. Executive Producer Rob Wade said at the time that Derek really agonized over the decision to accept the incredible offer to star in the New York Spring Spectacular, with its amazing 6,000+ seat theatre in the heart of Manhattan, but the opportunity was too good to pass up. Wade also announced Derek would be back the following season. 2) Anybody who read Derek's interviews knows he always planned to try to work out some way to take part in Season 20, even if just doing choreography. Plus, the New York Spring Spectacular closes May 3, several weeks before the end of Season 20. So there was always going to be time to do something at the very end of the season. 3) Us Weekly reported: "A source tells US Hough approached ABC about choreographing this season when his NYC schedule would permit, and that discussion led to his return. 'All parties involved are thrilled this is working,' the source said. 4) ET Online asked Tom Bergeron, "What'd it take to get Derek Hough back on the show?" Tom: "It logistically worked out. His desire was to be on the show, but he couldn't very well pass up that opportunity to do the show at Radio City. It just, everything kind of aligned for him to be able to do both. I'm sure the other pros are hoping the jet lag gets to him." It really did come together practically at the last minute, because they had to get permission from The Weinstein Company and Madison Square Garden Entertainment for Derek to do both. But as a source told DWTSGossip, his return "was brewing for a long time." Tom Bergeron told Renee Bargh of Extra TV: "It's our 10th anniversary - 20th season. You really want a good cast for something like that." Extra TV: And how could you have done it without Derek Hough? Tom: Well, we've done it in the past without him, he's taken a season off in the past and we fully expected until about a day ago that we would do it again without him this time, but it all, everything just aligned and he's with us and I couldn't be happier. |

What are you on about? Derek's book, Taking the Lead, has been on the New York Times Best Seller List a number of times, most recently at #7. His and Julianne's Move Live Tour was sold out in dozens of cities across the country, and they had to add more shows to accommodate the demand.

It was time he left and him coming back with another ringer just screams bias. |

Thanks for the link! Mark knew that Derek's Season 18 partner had some serious disability but didn't know anything else. Turns out Derek didn't know Amy's name or what what her disability was until she walked in the room at Sochi. He didn't see anything wrong with her and had to ask, "What's the disability here?" She raised both pant legs to show him she had prosthetic legs. So the executive producers sure can keep a secret, even from the pro. |

Even if I am misunderstood I am fairly certain Derek is getting 10x the pay packet than the other pro's. Probably more than some of the celebrity's they've signed up.
It was time he left and him coming back with another ringer just screams bias. Boy, would I LOVE to make a little bet with you on that! I seriously doubt he makes that much more - if anything more - than the other pros. But if he does, they figure he's worth it. Re: your charge of bias - Yes, he is an acknowledged STAR of DWTS. Every show has its stars, doesn't it? I don't know exactly when he became one. It wasn't his first season, or his second season, or his third season, when they paired him with a Model. Models historically are always among the very first eliminated. Many said, "Well, they'll be the first out." But surely the producers recognized his talent early on. Derek described in his book how, when he flew from London to do a pro dance and also give some tips to Julianne's partner Apolo, one of the producers, Rob Wade, asked him following this number how he would like to join the show permanently. (He said he was not interested.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK5ytBsmRmw By the way, I was very surprised to hear Derek and Julianne never had ANY gymnastics training! The question was asked during the Q&A on the Move Live Tour. They both shook their heads no, and then Derek told the story of being asked to do a backflip for this Rod Stewart performance and that he nearly landed right into Rod! Someone found the video. Amazing. You'll see Rod step quickly back to avoid being hit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpplKjRRFDg |

Noah seems nice - the armpit leaf blower made me . I'm still not sure about having a 14 year old on - even in the promo shoot they look like they're having to be careful about how they pose. Don't really know what to make of Riker. |

Don't really know what to make of Riker. Yes so glad Emma has got Redfoo, she deserves a chance. Yes lol at the leaf blower. ![]() No I think 14 is too young, I would have capped the lower age at 16 and even then not keen. Training footage from YT, thank you OP, for those not willing or able to wait around for all access. I was fed up of keep checking and missing it, only caught the tail end of Charlotte and Keo the other night, they looked pretty good together. I couldn't be bothered last night, for Kym and Robert, but after viewing their footage, actually think he seems quite nice. I've had a change of heart about him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOW3Qj-vVEU |

I agree. It did make me laugh reading a comment somewhere that if Mark's trajectory continues, by season 30 he'll be dancing with one of the kids from Toddlers & Tiaras
![]() I've only watched a little bit so far, but its so interesting seeing actual training - it feels like ages since we've seen any footage like this on Strictly. As it seems to be scheduled hour slots its not as intrusive as I thought it might be either. I don't hold out much hope that they'll do anything similar over here ![]() Yes I found it really interesting to watch, it's still a snapshot, but better than the edited footage of the usual packages, we get to see on the show. Yes it would be a good idea to do it over here, but think as we have ITT it's as good as we will get. |

14 as an age doesn't really mean much. Willow's been in the Hunger Games films, which address rather mature themes for her age. If she's mentally ok to dance with Mark, then why not. Sadie was older but not quite ready to do things the Willow might take more in her stride. Take out the Rumba and everything else shouldnt be an issue regardless of age.

Rumer and Val footage. Thanks again to OP, wouldn't have stayed up to watch last night.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIneGtr3x5g Think they are trying to not let on, how they are doing. ![]() Well only just started watching so hope I won't be distracted by the animal onsies!

It wouldn't be so bad if they would pair the really young contestants with Junior Ballroom/Latin champions, who are the same sort of age as the young contestants themselves.

I'm another who wouldn't want younger pros on the show. There shouldn't be any issue with appropriateness. Mark's experienced enough at this, both in real life, teaching youngsters and in balancing that with the particular needs of the show.
I wonder though if he's fed up at being typecast in this role. I know I'm bored of it as a viewer... Willow may turn out to be great. By all accounts she's mature and may have an understanding of the emotions required to express the dances beyond her years etc etc (or be a good enough actress to fake the emotional side), so my gripe with casting younger and younger is in general, rather than about her. I'm just not interested in watching kids and teens in this context. It's a bit like going to dinner at friends only to find their children are staying up and joining you. However charming and lovely they are, you're not going to be able to get drunk, use bad language and talk freely about any old tosh. Hate that. |

It would be worse. I don't want to see them start to get ever-younger pros. Then they might as well move the show from ABC to the kiddie channels.
