Buffy has done one,The X Files has done one, many tv shows jhave done them,?

How you would feel about Dr WHo have a musical episode?

I believe Jenna can sing but Dr WHo cannot.

Would you be happy to see him mime?

Who should do Patrick's voice?

Russell Watson?
Paul Robseon?
John Gordon Sinclar (who is a lovely singer in real life)?
Gary Wilmot?
Joe Longthorne?
or Biffy Clytfferoe?

The X Files never did one, the closest there was was the Season 7 episode Hollywood AD which featured a fictional film about Mulder and Scully, and a bit of a song-and-dance performance at the conclusion.

That being said, Buffy Season 6's Once More, With Feeling is amazing stuff But I digress.

I think there's room for a musical episode within Doctor Who... because it can be made to work within the madcap reasoning of plot for the show. Someone suggested once that the Tardis translation matrix gets muddled up and results in everything being done in the form of song. However to make it more of a song-and-dance routine I wouldn't be against a villain or a phenomenon of some kind that makes it happen in-story. Make light of it, a real comedic piece that doesn't take itself very seriously. I don't know if Series 9 is the time for it, or if indeed it'd be better suited once Moffat's out of the way, but I wouldn't be against one.

Other shows have shown how good they can be, and I'm sure The Doctor could rise to the challenge!

Peter Capaldi can sing. He's got an awesome voice

I love musicals. Musical theatre is the purest of all theatrical forms. But not in Doctor Who, no.

Definitely not.

It was a gimmick in Buffy that they managed to pull off. It was a fun episode.

In a way Dr Who has done this with the William Hartnell episode The Gunfight - The Ballad Of The Last chance Saloon sung by Linda Baron. It ran through all the episodes.

A completely musical episode, however would just be a rip off of the Buffy Episode.

If they approached the musical genre in a different way it would be OK.
It would have to be unconventional to work for me.

Where's the poll, and option that says "I would stop watching"?

I detest modern musicals, the songs are unfailingly terrible.

Well Shona did sing Slade in LC so maybe they are warming up to it. If it is done right proper story and songs it could work.

Yes, absolutely.

If planned right and if thematically it makes sense, why the hell not?

I think the closest they could get they have already done.

Twice...

A Christmas Carol, with Katherine Jenkins.
The Rings of Akhaten.

I wouldn't mind seeing some more - but as they've already done it, I don't suppose there's any real need for it.

While it worked really well in Buffy - Once More With Feeling was a wonderful episode - I just can't see it working in Doctor Who, though I'm not quite sure why. While the fanbases for the 2 shows do cross over to a certain extent I just can't see it going down very well for many DW fans and I hope they don't do one.

Dr WHo has got a nice singing voice in certain incarnations, Malcolm. Who can forget the Seventh Doctor's crooning of 'As Time Goes By' for example. Or the Fifth Doctor singing to himself as he prepares for a bath in Black Orchid? As for the actors, Jon Pertwee has quite the discography and Peter Davison has classics like 'Button Moon' and 'Mixed Blessings' under his belt. Not to mention Colin Baker's oft forgotten but critically acclaimed performance in 'Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat' in 1977.

Yeah, it'd be a fun idea.

Big Finish have already done some stuff like this, one where the Sixth Doctor was using songs to help tell a story, and another where evil Muppets from outer space were hypnotising people using their creepy bouncy songs.

Colin Baker in Doctor Who and the Pirates.

Didnt Tom BAker sing Blue Moon or something in the epsiode with the Pescatons (Full Circle?)

I think you'll find it was the Marshmen in Full Circle. The Pescatons did feature in an LP back in the the day, though. Ironically, whilst there is no Doctor singing in Full Circle that I recall, I believe he does quote from the lyrics of Happiness is a Warm Gun on said LP.

Not really relevant, but I had a dream not too long about watching an episode in which the Doctor (12) helped an aspiring heavy metal artist, and at the end we got an awesome metal remix of Twelve's leitmotif.

Daleks in Manhattan and Voyage of the Damned both featured characters singing songs especially written for those episodes as well.
