Since when have musicals been the purist of all theatrical forms?????????? Are you rejecting ballet, Shakespeare etc in favour of musicals????? Unbelievable!

The Rings of Akhaten is the closest Doctor Who has and ever should get to being a musical.

How you would feel about Dr WHo have a musical episode?

I believe Jenna can sing but Dr WHo cannot.

Would you be happy to see him mime?

Who should do Patrick's voice?

Russell Watson?
Paul Robseon?
John Gordon Sinclar (who is a lovely singer in real life)?
Gary Wilmot?
Joe Longthorne?
or Biffy Clytfferoe?”

I wouldn't watch it as I feel I outgrew Dr Who in 80's , having said that Buffy really pulled it off in a way that was truly impressive and surprising .

I can't say they're a favourite format of mine either. However, I would say there are probably some you would like. It depends on the types of music you like - they're not all from the 1950s and sickly sweet.

Speaking of music, this is a neat Doctor Who ditty.

I've seen a few things on You Tube. Very funny too!

I'd say NO to a Doctor Who musical episode though!

I would, however, say YES to a Comic Relief -style show....with actors that can sing - Jenna Coleman, David Tennant, Peter Capaldi, Catherine Tate (?), and Billie Piper!
That would be fun!!

I mentioned that episode earlier, along with A Christmas Carol.

So it's already been done more than once!

I absolutely disagree with those who say Once More With Feeling in Buffy worked as a musical episode. IMO, it really didn't and was by some considerable distance the worst episode of Buffy ever. The music was awful, you could see some of the actors(but not all) were uncomfortable with it and to really top it off it had a really lame, lightweight, singing and dancing villain in it too.

Therein lies the problem with a musical episode. The villain has to be be bad enough and scary enough to be believable. How can you fit a villain into a musical episode and make them work successfully alongside/or with singing themselves? Unless you believe a Dalek or Cyberman can sing........

Rings Of Athaken still remains for me the worst episode of Doctor Who ever(aside the opening phase with Clara's parents) because of the pointless and continual singing it contained. I can't see a musical working in Doctor Who at all and I would certainly not watch the episode if they went down that road.

If the Doctor was to come across an alien species who communicates through music then that would be interesting (to me anyway)

Doctor Who is the most flexible show possible, it can do musical episodes. If its any good depends, like any other episode of DW, and what they are able to produce and how that matches to ones individual tastes.
