Well the album itself didn't sell very well and G.U.Y wasn't a hit. Do What U Want was popular but wasn't there some controversy over R.Kelly? I guess it all depends on the music at the end of the day. If people like it they'll buy it.

Do What U Want was good, but disposable. None of her recent music is in the least bit memorable. Whereas you can still bop to Bad Romance, Poker Face, Just Dance, et al.

Unlike the majority of DS....i am not a fan of her Fame days.....Born This Way was when i went WOW .....i adore that album and adore ARTPOP! way more than her debut.

ANd like others have said RedOne has been on every Lady gaga album to date.

It sounds like she is simply laying out ehr ideas with her producer friend.....tht is all artists do this all the time...I am just gald she is still out there making music...i would be gutted if she went the Dr Luke route now THAT is scraping the barrell...though I wouldnt mind if she worked with Max Martin ....his productions are insane enough to be catchy but commercial enbough to not be sell out.

ANyway my dream would be gaga/Mark Ronson now....after gaining new ears with Cheek to Cheek (her shows with Bennett are really helping would be a shame to lose that audience) and really make a Retro Pop orienated album with the gaga stamp.

Her lyrics and hooks are second to none....WOuld love her to just take a note out of Madonna and Bowies books and REINVENT herself further really....I dont care if she ever has a number 1 song again ...I just want her to be inventive and sustain her name

We have Charli XCX, Sky Ferreira, Solange, grimes, Marina DIamandis out there showcasing you can really blend together everything and be successful without selling out...I just really hope gaga sustains this without needing to cheapen herself or be commercial.....because that is one thing i cannot stand with a load of todays pop female singers......be inventive

The album DID sell well!!
It just did not sell as well as her previous two.
She had already set the bar too high with the fame.

And as she has said a zillion times already. The more people who try to force her to do another fame, the less likely she will. She just wants to make the music she wants to make.

Really looking forward to this collab, as all my favourite Gaga songs are Gaga/RedOne.

I don't see what's wrong with her wanting another hit. Is it so wrong for her to want success after so many said her last album was unsuccessful? It's not like she's sacrificing her artistic integrity by going back to RedOne; it just shows she knows her strengths and weaknesses.

I think people are making too big a deal about this. She's always worked with RedOne, on every album. There were more songs they worked on together for ARTPOP but they didn't make the final cut, not of Act I anyway.

She's not selling her soul by working with him again, as she never stopped! I always like their work together and I think she brings out the best in him, as I don't really like his work with other artists as much.

What can be said is yes, you are indeed correct about that he has appeared on 'every album' but what you fail to mention is the level of his presence on each.
Fame - made her a star. (Most produced songs were by him)
BTW - best song was Hair as it is a RedOne/Gaga esq song!
Art - one WRITING credit? lol

And for them working on more songs together, do you think it was her decision or her labels decision to not include them?

I was a fan of Gaga in the days of RedOne and his input and its clearly obvious (in retrospect) that the sort of music they made and released was what made her successful. They worked that sound well and made some truly incredible songs forever to be remembered. I do think its getting a bit of a desperate cry for a hit again tbh. and believe me she will get one with that sound. How do i know this...well I will be buying it and I haven't bought anything Gaga since 'Hair' was released as a grat track!

ARTPOP was a good album but that entire era messed up due to her issues with her management. Also, poor single choices. Venus and Mary Jane Holland should've been singles instead of the mess she chose.

Also, she barley gave the album any TV promo. She gave a few radio interviews in the first week of release and then went on tour. Plus, the mess of choosing to collab with R. Kelly for a single and then pulling the video because of his trials and allegations. I just hope that RedOne can pull out another Fame/ Fame Monster for us so we can put ARTPOP behind us. With a classic RedOne single, an epic video and some good TV promo, Gaga can reclaim her spot at the top again.

I think it's a matter of opinion whether Hair is the best song on BTW. I personally skip it every time, and I much prefer the acoustic version rather than the over-produced one we get on the album. I prefer his other productions like Judas and Scheiße... And there's other great songs he didn't produce on there like GH, HML and Edge of Glory, so she certainly doesn't need him to write a good song.

I think more of her success earlier on came from working with Rob Fusari rather than RedOne, not at all saying they don't work well together but if his productions are so amazing then why hasnt he had more recognition and success for his work without Gaga?

I don't think anyone can really know why he didn't have more work on ARTPOP, she wrote well over 50 songs and my guess would be, their work just didn't fit her idea for the album. Don't forget there was meant to be volume I and volume II.

And who's to say he's producing anything she's working on now? Maybe it'll also be a writing credit...

Gaga did want Venus as a single, but her label changed it to DWYW last minute because it was so popular as a promo single. And I think she did quite a bit of promo. She did SNL, opened the VMAS, performed at the AMAs, did Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr and GMA in the US.... It was a sloppy era with many mistakes and nobody seemed to know what was going on.

What Gaga needs to do for success is stop believing her own hype so much (I say this as a fan), connect more with the GP and let things happen more naturally. She puts almost too much thought into everything and it comes across unfortunately as contrived. Solid music, good concepts for videos and performances, a plan regarding which singles are released when and sticking to it, and she'll have a very good campaign.
