I enjoy doing this each January. It is fun and is a good excuse to admire nature for an hour.

Well I just had 3 crows and a blue tit in my garden after my nuts.

Nice. I recommend Sunflower Hearts as they seem to attract the pretty birds such as finches and tits.

The shelled nuts in the bird feeder do not seem to be working.

But I put out some nuts in shells, and that attracted the crows, blue tit and a squirrel.
But I might try one of the DIY bird feeders with the seeds.

This is the blue tit using the feeder on the first day, but no birds have used it since.
