I have an issue with conditional forwarding from another mobile network (o2) to my new iPhone 6 Plus on the Three network

Unconditional forwarding i.e. all voice calls the divert works fine and the call to the o2 number arrives immediately on my iPhone on the Three network.

However if I set a conditional forwarding i.e. forward if not answered after x seconds, if out of reach or if not available the call will does not arrive and you get call disconnected tone as if the call has been rejected.

I initially thought this was problem with o2 but have disproved this as conditional forwarding to other numbers mobile and fixed line works as expected. I then suspected the Three network but have disproved this as I have successfully set conditional forwarding from the o2 number to another iPhone 5 on the Three network.

All I can think is the iPhone is somehow rejecting the call on conditional forwarding? It works fine on unconditional forwarding though. The o2 number is not blocked on the iPhone which makes sense as it would affect unconditional as well as conditional.

Totally miffed anyone else experienced an issue like this and any pointers as to what could be causing the issue?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.1.2

Have you tried your O2 SIM in another (non iPhone 6) handset when setting the conditional forwards?

Forwards of any type should be done by the network, so for some reason O2 aren't - might be a network fault.

The phone diverting is a Nokia C1 feature phone on o2. An immediate divert works but any delay ie divert if not answered after 5 rings fails to the iPhone. But if I do the same divert if not answered to another phone landline/vodafone and yes another mobile on 3 it works. That to me eliminates o2 and 3? It just seems to get call rejection tone when diverting with a conditional forward to the iPhone. I ca't see anything on a iPhone that could cause this...

I'm tempted to ask how the iPhone could possibly differentiate between a call diverted on an "all calls" divert or a call diverted on a "no answer" divert. I would have thought they would look pretty much the same to it? Would they even be much different to a direct call to the phone?

If you set up a working divert to a phone you can see responding is there any difference in the displayed number between the two types of divert? The only thing I can think of is a no answer divert appears on the recipient phone as withheld or something like that and the iPhone is set to reject number withheld calls.

I've just tried to replicate your problem, I have a Nokia 2630 on O2, I set a divert to my iPhone 6 using the divert if not answered and then rang it from another phone. It rang the 2630 for the set 15 seconds and then successfully diverted the call to my iPhone 6 which rang as normal.

The problem is unique to you, it would seem.

What format did you enter the number in for the divert? Just FYI, I just used 079xx xxxxxx as the divert number.

Can you confirm the conditional diverts to that number do indeed get setup correctly for voice at a network level? To do this use the following queries:
*#61# (and press call) for unanswered
*#62# for unreachable
*#67# for busy

Tried both

Just physically turned the iPhone off to test again:
Unconditional divert (immediate divert) goes immediately to my 3 voicemail as expected.
Conditional divert (if not answered after 5 rings) rings for 5 rings on the o2 mobile then you get call rejection tone.

As the conditional divert works to other numbers including other numbers on 3 I am now even more miffed! If the iPhone is off it can't reject it.

Just dial the numbers as posted. They are queries for all the conditional diverts and you'll get the results back on the screen. Look at the ones for voice and see if it says it diverts to the number you want. They are a check to see if they're setup correctly.

With a Nokia like the OP has you can also go into the call divert menu and just click "check status".

I've just dug out an old Nokia 6700 classic and tried it with an O2 sim, diverting works first time to my iPhone 6. Only difference between your scenario and mine is I have an EE sim in the iPhone.

I'll have a look for a Three nano sim for the iPhone and try it with that if you like.
