Vogue by Madonna. That instrumental at the beginning is everything and when she says 'strike a pose' for the first time. 👌

The brilliant intro to The Jam's News Of The World. Sublime guitar work and chord and tempo charges. Also Pink Floyd's long but beautiful intro to Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Radiohead's irreal dreamy intro to Punchdrunk Lovesick Singalong, Street Spirit and No Surprises. Plus David Bowie's Ashes To Ashes, Heroes, Station To Station and Space Oddity.

If "intros to songs" includes the first lines of lyrics, then . . .
Björk: Venus As A Boy His wicked sense of humour Suggests exciting sex Leonard Cohen: Tower of Song Well, my friends are gone And my hair is grey I ache in the places where I used to play The Mutton Birds (writer Don McGlashan): She's Been Talking At the high tide line Driftwood and shells That's where she said We could leave our clothes Where the moonlight dissolves in the wet sand thanks for the thread

I Fought The Law - The Clash
I love the gathering drumroll, going from almost silent to the loud, energetic guitar intro. Just thought of another.. I must love brief, dramatic drum-based intros because I also love the "du-bu-dumdum du-bu-dumdum" of Up The Junction by Squeeze. |

We Found Love- Rihanna.
It's so distinctive. As soon as the first bar plays everyone always goes mental. I've never seen a song get a bigger reception in a club like that song. |
