Gigabit

Are any of the UK's networks actually building new masts or just improving old ones.

They are going have to build new masts else they wouldn't meet the geographical obligation.

I thought the plan was to merge 2 into 1 where they can and then operate new masts in the areas they don't cover now.

Yes, but I can't any specific ones off the top of my head, however the MIP project has yet to deliver any new masts so I'm told.

A grand total of 2 MIP sites so far! The first one, in 2013, was in Weaverthorpe, North Yorks which was more of a demo.

The only genuine one was built last year in North Molton (Devon).

They wont be new builds?

How have you confirmed they are?

Unlikely they are new builds, Orange dormant masts for 3 I'd bet on.. If you furnish me with the localities I can check as they would be MBNL not 3.

I was told they would be new builds, not existing orange sites, according to the executive office, but I could be being told lies.

Voda/02 have many new streetworks sites in various stages of the planning system. They have applied for 3 brand new sites in my Borough alone in the last month all 4G of course

No large scale ones. Only the occasional streetside pole. Mostly O2/Vodafone. Otherwise just more sharing of existing ones.

They wont be new sites. Just 4G added to existing sites. You don't get 4G only sites.

I read planning documents all the time for my local area and various Website tools for following the voda/02 rollout and I can assure you that there are plenty of new sites coming up. One in Greenhithe springs to mind being installed tomorrow
