This. Katie's ill-informed, badly thought through opinion on the middle east is objectively racist, and when challenged she plays the 'freedom of speech' card she loves to hide behind. She lives in a world where insults and nastiness is the norm and she only really cares about being on screen, so I doubt she even noticed how Perez had just been insulted.
