I turned to Wikipedia to help enlighten you. Don't you agree that straight people have much more advantages and privileges afforded to them in life than gay folks?

Ask yourself - when has a straight person been discriminated against for being straight? When has a gay person been discriminated against for being gay? That should answer your question.

are you joking? You really think straight people don't have an advantage in a world where people are beaten up and even killed for being gay?

But when people are using this as a point in a debate, that's not going to change. I actually didn't even think about Perez being gay. I didn't know him before entering the house, and didn't catch that he was gay until Ken asked him if he was gay. The bottom line is, people don't like Perez because of his actions - not his sexuality.

You accused me of having views that protect homophobes and bigots. I asked why you condone slurs like Uncle Tom. Please explain how you think your views are so much enlightened than everyone else's. Or in your world does the use of one word that you have decided is unacceptable regardless of context and nuance means they should be shunned and banished from society? I'm trying to understand your logic.

Yeah but weren't you asking what "straight privilege" is? That's what it is.

Wow. Just wow. So now, being comfortable in your own skin, and having a sense of humor that allows self-depreciation is being passed off as self-loathing and self-hate?

There really are no limits to how far the PC people will go to justify their blinkered small minded offense at everything.

I wouldn't say anyone is really racist or homophobic. Howeve, on last nights viewing I thought almost all of them were behaving like children. Perez I have no words for. Alexander and Katie have allowed him to make them behave as childish as he does. Alicia is probably a nice person but has to have everything explained to her as if she is 5. Nadia is running round shouting like a bossy little girl. The only people with any dignity left are callum and cheggers.

I'm not even... There's no point in even trying with some people dramatising everything to be homophobic. I am not a homophobe by any means, but my message to anyone is to just be happy in your own skin and stop whining about what you have and what you haven't. I don't think straight people have any privileges, if not being beaten to death because your straight is a privilege - then that's crazy IMO.

We only have Kens word for it that Frank wasn't offended - I'm sceptical about that.

As for your last sentence, Ken is not some confused pensioner, and I have no doubt he has remnants of a colonial racism about him. He knew exactly what he was doing. He is very proud of being a Groper too. The man is just vile.

That's nice and all but tell that to the families of the kids whose children committed suicide because they were bullied for being gay or the gay couple who was kicked out of the pub for holding hands or the guy whose parents disowned him for being gay. When did you last hear of someone being disowned because they were straight? Don't downplay homophobia. Just because gay people can now get married and have legal rights doesn't mean they are 100% accepted by society. Heterosexual people will always have societal privilege and that's a fact. I've accepted myself and am happy in my own skin but some people are not. It's not about whining either.

Like I said , you and theother guy getmadnow are talking complete and utter bullshit or you are trying to wind people up like Perez has been doing. I just can't stand Perez the person, a horrible nasty disrespectful person, I couldn't give a crap if he is gay , straight bisexual whatever that does not form part of my judgement.

The world is full of discrimination and people get murdered for all kinds of things not just for being gay , people like you and and a number of people of my own ethnicity (black) make things worse by having an enormous chip on their shoulder and taking every little comment as either a homophobic or racist attack.

People are discriminated against for

Being too white (never tan)
Being Ginger
Having a certain accent
Having a speech impediment
Being fat
Being ugly
Having a certain religion
Being too old for certain things

I could go on and on but some black people and some gay people think it is all about them, and this political correctness is just a load of rubbish that people hide behind.

I have had people spit on me because I am black, I have had people leave a bar next to me saying what is that smell, I have loads of examples of nasty treatment that is what I would really consider racist.

If someone called me a silly negro jokingly that would not offend me, just like I would call my friend a thick scouser and he would call me a woolyback. They are just words.
It is you people who drive a wedge between "straight and gay" and black and white" because in my opinion we are all the same, I don't think of myself as being black and if someone jokes about my colour it is fine.

If people snubbed Perez or were nasty to him because he was gay that that would be wrong but calling him a name in the heat of an argument does not render a person homophobic or racist or whatever. It is the actions and behavior to a person that determines that and the quicker you and people like you grow up and learn that and get that great big chip off your shoulder the better the world will be for it

What are you talking about? Just because you're not offended doesn't mean I can't be offended. I don't like people insulting me based on my sexual orientation. That's it. I absolutely hate the "Political correctness" argument. People that complain about everything being too PC are just complaining that they can't spout their bigoted opinions without being criticized anymore.

Nothing to do with a chip on my shoulder. Maybe next time try and empathize with others instead of talking about people speaking BS. The world would be a better place if people were more accepting and didn't use a characteristic like race or sexual orientation to insult someone, NOT if I took the "chip" off my shoulder. Stop trying to appease racists and homophobes, that's what's BS. If someone is being homophobic, I will call them out on it. It's not me that needs to grow up, that's for sure. End of.

As i said before i (like many other black people) don't consider Uncle Tom to be a racial slur, it's more an insult. Stop being so sensationalist and dramatic. Where did i say that people who say that word should be shunned and banished from society? I'll wait whilst you find that quote!!!

I just feel that people who use historically charged slurs such as the N or F word, it's not down to context or misplaced rage, it obviously stems from them having issues with that group whether they want to deny it or not.

If i'm honest, what really grinds my gear is privileged people who have no valid experiences of being on the end receiving end of racism or homophobia dictating what's offensive and what's not and how we should react to it.

Make your mind up, in some threads you claim you are mixed race and in others you claim you are black lol. Just because some words dont offend you doesn't mean they wont offend others. It is not the people who call out homophobia who drive a wedge in between gay and staright people, it is the homophobes who do that, all you've been doing so far is victim blaming how about directing some of that over to those who are actually holding these ignorant views.

No sorry, you have a chip on your shoulder, I guess you are about 17 or 18 by your immature reactions and failure to recognize what things really are racist or homophobic.

I am black but do not consider myself in another group, you are gay and you consider yourself to be different and in another group, that is your problem nobody elses.

Perez is horrible person who just happens to be gay, I would think the same if he was straight, black or whatever. I won't argue anymore now because you lack of real life experience and immaturity is starting to wind me up.

This is the most sensible post I've read. As for the BIB, well I'm astounded that there are so many perfect people on this forum, who never say anything they regret when they've been provoked and insist that everyone should be able to "turn the other cheek". They're clearly a lot more controlled than I and most people I've ever met to be honest.

Who are you to judge what is REALLY racist or homophobic?

And what does my age have anything to do with it? Can an 18 year old not have valid opinions? And for the record, I am older than 18. If anybody is being immature, it's you. Instead of responding to my posts, you have resorted to just making assumptions about me. You are unable to have a discussion without resorting to making personal comments about me. That is what it's immature.
