Not everything can be excused with "s/he's playing a game"

Look, these people are living in a house together for a month 24 hours a day with no contact with the outside world, plus they are on camera 24/7.

They don't know which bits are going to be televised for 45 mins to an hour out of every 24 hours and it would be IMPOSSIBLE for people to keep up a pretence for this long!

So Perez's absolutely disgusting behaviour is not him "playing a game", nor is Katie H's character of being a tough-speaking ball-breaker and neither is Alicia's wide-eyed dumb blonde personality.

What you see is what you get.

The aim of the game is actually not to pretend and be liked the most for who you actually are (in my opinion anyway). It's not to get all sneaky and conceited by pretending to be something you're not and win by false pretences.

I think you've kind of missed the point..... Some of these people are hardened celebrities, like proper hard as nails. They might not be able to keep up a pretence but they'll die trying. And then their agent will swoosh things round so it will end well.
Pantomime, dahling, pantomime!

I think people are often misled by the word "game" appearing in both "game show" and "playing a game" into thinking that anything that can be described as "playing a game" must be ok in BB. Few people think the same underhand or manipulative tactics are ok when they're described in other ways, but as soon as an idiom such as "playing games" is used, suddenly they're supposed to be ok.

Anyway, if "playing a game" is understood as trying to keep up a pretence of being something or someone you aren't, then I agree that Perez isn't playing that particular game and that his despicable behaviour comes from his actual personality.

The reason why many think Perez is playing a game, is because he smirks, rubs his hand together etc after he feels he's accomplished something. You don't have to call it a game, you could call it planned, on purpose etc. Katie is just an opinionated woman, majority of us on here are passing opinions on what we see/hear etc, she is no different. When you read comments on here, some seem very harsh and we judge what people say etc. So is he playing up, for me yes, does he affect everyone by going to far, yes, do I find him funny, no, do I find him entertaining no. If he did it at odd times I maybe would, but the constant attention, playing up, being over dramatic makes me pity him and lose respect for him. I would hate to be in that house with him and he is not someone I would like in my private life. Do I hate or dislike, no.

The real Perez is the annoyingly noisy and friendly Perez, the Perez you see now is a partially broken spirit.

The normal Katie H is basically a calm, right-wing strong-minded female, the way she makes a living is to appear outspoken and pick on people she deems to be weak. The Katie you see now is what lurks beneath the surface, not a pretty sight..

I agree with this, atm he is like an exagerrated bi-polar version of himself. One moment manic and the next tearful. I even noticed at one point that his voice broke as if he were choking back tears all the while he was smiling and talking animatedly to Nadia and Patsy. I think this is why I have more empathy with him than I do with Hopkin's because even though socially they are both not very nice people, he at least seems to have a more vulnerable side.

That just doesn't wash for me, and it would help to look at her behaviour outside of the house too to explain why:

She claimed to hate seeing children named after geographical locations - but has a child called India. She also claimed to hate gingers - yet has two ginger-haired children. Realising the inconsistency here, it's impossible for me to believe that she's 'opinionated' as i would understand the term (to express views that you actually hold), rather than being deliberately offensive for the sake of being offensive to garner attention (trolling).

As for inside the house, if Katie's not playing a game, then how do we reconcile her views on people with tattoos, and 'liberal lefties' (claims to hate them both) with her closeness to Cami-Li and Michelle, the self-proclaimed gay rights activist? IMO, we can only do that in one of two ways: accept that she really does hate them (as she claims) but is keeping her feelings to herself for the sake of the game; or, that she doesn't hold those views in the first instance.

Are you sure though? I've been reading up on Perez and he has a long history of being sued, getting punched for making homophobic comments trying to 'out' people that either weren't ready or didn't want to and falling out with a whole host of previous friends and celebs, hardly the friendly type.
