Hi all, Just bought a Philips 55PFT5509 but my surround sound system, a Philips HTS3530 no longer works with normal TV, but does work when playing DVD's, I have it set up as per my old tv, i have the HDMI cable plugged into the HDMI arc port and the TIVO plugged into the main HDMI port, I've even connected up the red/white plugs to see if that got it going but to no avail, i have read that i may need a HDMI 1.4 lead as the TV isn't compatible with any other type, I'm assuming that the one i have isn't a 1.4 any advice would be appreciated,
thanks.

The reason why the HDMI connection doesn't work is nothing to do with the lead. Though if the lead isn't fully wired that might cause problems but assuming it has all pins wired it would work with ARC.

The big problem is that the Home Theatre system does not have ARC on it's HDMI out. The only option for audio from TV to Home Theatre system is the analogue audio inputs on the Home Theatre system.

And if you are trying to use a stereo phono plug lead to connect the two that won't work either. Any phono sockets on the TV are INPUT only, no use in this application. As far as I can see the only really usable option is the headphone socket using a 3.5mm stereo jack to phono plug lead.

ARC will only work if both devices have that feature, it looks like the sound system does not have ARC.

The red/white connections are inputs not outputs, that's why you are not getting any audio through.

The version of HDMI has no bearing on your audio issues.

Looks like the headphone socket is your only source for feeding the audio from your TV to your sound system.
