In many ways we dyslexics have to work harder to process everything that comes more easily to 'normal' people.
I'm often told I'm a lateral thinker as I often come up with very different ideas and solutions to problems! It's like I see things in a different way. But it works for me.
It also gives me an insight into how hard it is for children with any learning issue as I've been there and I wasn't supported by the education system (until I reached uni, two years after all my peers). As a result I understand how hard it can be for the children in my class. I hope this makes me a better teacher than I would otherwise have been.
