It's not just about her dyslexia. People also think she's dumb because she spent all that money on plastic surgery. What they fail to realize is that body dysmorphic disorder has nothing to do with intelligence.

It seems madness that even now the education system fails dyslexics. It makes me sooooooo cross!

3 out of the 4 universities I applied to spotted I needed assessing at my interview. They all offered me places but said they'd want me assessed. I was lucky enough to go to Kingston University who were fantastic. The assessor said he was amazed I'd managed to get GCSEs let alone ALevels without any support. During my degree they were fabulous. But that was 20 (eek!) years ago. I'm sorry your friend's son has had to suffer along the way, but am glad he's now getting the support he deserves. I hope he continues to do well.

What behaviour does she need excuses for She's possibly the least badly behaved person in there. Alongside the likes of Katie calling her thick and Cami interrogating her about her family and intimating her family don't like her, she's a saint.

As for her playing for sympathy I haven't heard her mention dyslexia or any other issues we may have heard or read about on here.

She is a victim though.

She's barely tolerated and gets spoken to as though she's a simpleton.......she doesn't need to 'play' anything.

That is quite serious but I don't believe that Alicia suffers from that as she said she was trying to look like I think it was barbie and obviously failed. This indicated to me that she can laugh at herself which would mean she doesn't suffer from body dysmorphic disorder.

I like her well enough I don't need any reasons for why she is how she is, I accept her as she is. I don't have to agree or make excuses for her in order to do that.

I read about it here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...reatments.html

Interesting article about all the surgeries she's had.

Really?

If an anorexic girl said she wanted to look like Barbie, would you believe her?

It's more common than you think and I'd have thought that wanting to look like a little plastic dolly with a figure that's completely unnatural was indicative of some kind of deep psychological impairment.

Michael Jackson, another famous body dysmorphic, once said 'make me pretty like my sister' which doesn't sound remotely 'normal' to me.

If the HM's know this some of them should be ashamed of themselves.
It has nothing to do with IQ (as she's being called stupid by some of them) . From what I've seen of her she's far from unintelligent with more insight than many of them.

It looks like it's just Alicia saying she's dyslexic, rather than something that's been properly diagnosed.

I think she'd know.

Courtesy of the internet, there's more available information about the condition than ever there was.

I had a bad cold the other day........that wasn't diagnosed either.

That is interesting. I'm glad she's over that phase. But I do not agree that anyone but her is responsible. Some of those surgeries are massive overkill. Shortening ribs? Scary just scary.

She's come out of it luckier than some, there's another woman who did surgically turn herself into barbie. and one that looks more cat than human now. Other than the perpetual startled look she's still quite cute.

Whilst i'm very aware that many ppl have dyslexia, i'm also aware that ppl use it as an excuse for their stupidity.
I'm not saying dyslexic ppl are stupid, i'm saying stupid ppl excuse their lack of intelligence by saying they're dyslexic, when they might not be.

Exactly. One of my closest friends is severely dyslexic but holds a first class degree and has a job that she loves doing Very proud of her. She also struggles with concentration due to her ADHD so that makes it even more amazing.

What makes you think they "fail to realise" that? Perhaps, instead, they "fail to realise" she has body dysmorphic disorder. Or neither.

If she even does have that disorder. She seems to have stopped the surgery now, so what supposedly shows it was caused by that disorder earlier?

That she doesn't need to doesn't mean she isn't.

Similarly, people don't need to make her sound more fragile and unable to defend herself than she is. Yet some do, even though she's shown she's well capable to defending herself and has done a better job of standing up to KH than anyone else in there.

I said that her attitude says she doesn't have it. Clearly that a NOW thing and not a FORMER thing. She formerly was addicted to surgery and now she's a campaigner against it.

I don't think your example is a good one. His father abused him, his mother allowed it, he was the breadwinner for a very large family from about 7 years old. It's a very long sad tale. As is Alicia. But she's recovered and she's doing well now. That's a good thing.

It's a horrible shame, she was a pretty young girl.

No - I agree

What I was trying to say (and failed) was that wanting to look like Barbie and actively doing things to yourself to achieve that, is a psychological issue.

I'm glad she isn't doing stuff to herself any longer and I've no clue why the 'doctors' who perform these surgeries aren't sued and struck off.

That is a shame. She started off so beautiful. I guess she couldn't wait for her face to "come in". By that I mean get the definition that comes with aging.

A big part of the problem is the modeling industry where those in charge think nothing of telling a beautiful young girl she needs a nose job or a face lift or higher cheekbones or whatever when they need no such thing. Happens to a lot of aspiring actresses as well. Fame is a powerful draw, or so it seems to me.

The thing about it and the reason why I'd never, ever, ever indulge (even if I could afford it) is because it's something you have to keep doing.

You can see that they continue and continue until ultimately they look 'done' and at some point they'll look 'over-done' and bloody scary-looking

Well perhaps they have some other disorder. Whatever, it's plane rude to call people thick or stupid like Katie H and other HMs are doing to Alicia. It wouldn't be tolerated if children did this and it is so much more unacceptable for adults doing this.

Why would you call a child stupid? They have their whole ahead of them to flourish.

Alicia chose her own path...said she had no money 'cause her ex cut her off' (meaning: she was a kept woman,) has made no attempt to better herself, boasts abt sh*gging over a 1000 men... and ridiculed her daughter for wanting an education. Any woman who wants her daughter to have a boob job at 16 and leave her education warrants quite a few words....Ds would probably only allow me to print stupid.

You do realise she sought help for her surgery addition because of her daughter. She is now totally against cosmetic surgery. She took her away from mock GCSE's. Yet this is still used against her. People can do many unacceptable things when they are addicted to anything destructive or a damaged personality.

I don't know. Maybe it's a stupid child calling another child stupid

The rest of your post still isn't any defense for those calling Alicia stupid.
