I've got an old Humax that is adequate for my needs and usually works very well. This weekend, however, when I tried to set a recording up, I got the message that it couldn't be done because of a timing conflict. I checked and double checked that nothing else was set for that time in the schedule and it was completely free.

Reading the instruction book it said reminders could cause this message to come up but as far as I can see I have no reminders either.

I was able to set an alternative time but if anyone has an idea as to what's wrong or how to fix it I'd be grateful.

Is your box a HD Fox T2 or a HDR Fox T2 ?

What were the programme name, channel and times. It may have been a broadcaster recording codes issue (crid). It's possible that the single recording reservation generated 3 actual recordings at the same time.

Can you also check

Current software version

Highest channel number in your channel list.

Did you check that any existing series recording hadn't a future recording at the same time ? Guide - Yellow Highlight a series recording and press right.

Did it pop up a box showing the scheduled recordings that were (or so it claimed) conflicting with the one you were trying to set, as shown in the manual under Recording and Playback/Scheduling Conflict?

If you have nothing set in the schedule (or can remember/note down what they are) then perhaps try a Factory Default setting on the unit from the Installation menu. This should not erase any recordings on the hard drive but will zap all tuning data and recording schedules into oblivion. It will go through the first time set-up procedure again but it might sort the machine out.

Sometimes when it starts playing silly beggars like this you have to wave the big stick in front of it to get it to play nicely again.

Thanks for the replies. I did the reset and that cured it. Why on earth I couldn't think of that one I don't know. Thanks again.
