The future becomes a little cooler; Microsoft Research wants to charge your phone with lasers
But those spoilsports want to use infrared light to get rid of the coloured beams

But it is safer to use a laser in the visible spectrum as:
1. Infrared lasers can and are used to burn. 2. The beam is in the invisible spectrum and so you can't see it and only feel it burning out your eyeballs! |
