Linx 10 Tablet - ethernet connection
I am considering buying a Linx 10 tablet. Can anyone tell me if it can be connected to the Internet by ethernet connection using the USB port? I have looked at the online manuals for the Linx tablets and it only mentions ethernet in the Linx 7 manual. Does the Linx 10 do this too?

Thanks for replying. So it is definitely the Linx 10 version you have? Could I connect the Ethernet adapter through a USB hub as i was considering having more than one peripheral connected to the mini USB port?
Sorry, I don't know if plugging into a hub would work or not. I'll see if I have a hub and if so trying it out tomorrow. |

I've tried with a cheap hub I have and not work. This could be because its cheap. Does work okay direct into the Ethernet port.

I have been looking at this too. Does it charge via the USB port or a separate power socket?

Unfortunately only via the charging port. The charging port is a slim non generic port. Would have been good via the USB port as I have them all over the place.

The advantage of a separate charging port is that it leaves the usb port free for a usb hub

I have looked at the online manual for the Linx 10 and it appears to have a separate Micro USB port and DC power socket. The manual says to charge the tablet through the USB port. Is this correct as I though it would be charged through the power socket?

I've just plugged it in via USB and does NOT charge via it. |

Usually because the host USB port can't supply enough power to keep the hub and attached devices happy. Not a problem with a self powered hub as the external power supply takes care of that. |

Was it a powered hub or does it rely on taking power from the host USB port? I've known devices refuse to work on hubs that rely on the host PC that are quite happy to work on a self powered hub.

My Dell Venue 8 Pro is very choosy what it will charge with. It's either the original USB charger that came with it, that's 2A, or 1A chargers. I have some 2A ones, too, but the tablet ignores them and won't charge.

Strange if it says it does online. |

1. Plug the charger into a wall outlet Then goes on to say2. Connect the charger to your tablet via the Micro-B Type USB connector port. Quote:

So which is it? It either charges through the USB port or it doesn't. And if it charges via USB then what is the purpose of the DC Power jack shown?I suspect it might come down to seeing what plug the DC power adapter has on the end of the lead to plug into the tablet itself. Willing to be it's not a USB connector

Could it mean that it doesn't support "USB charging", ie plugged into a computer, but it does support being charged through a USB charger.
The difference is that many PCs supply only 500mA of current but typical micro USB chargers can supply 1 or 2 amps. Even the original iPad had this issue, it wouldn't really charge the tablet, it would just mean that the battery would get depleted more slowly |

Well I'll put the picture straight, it only charges vi the DC charger and NOT USB. I can state this as fact as I own the unit

Here's the manual for the Linx 8 -
http://www.meridian-chartware.co.uk/...INX8_Guide.pdf This version does not have a power socket so you have to charge through the USB. Maybe there was some confusion when writing the manuals? |
