Could be fake but HTC's flagship for 2015 HTC One M9 aka HTC Hima has leaked.

Pretty much looks the same as M8.

5inch screen
1920 x 1080 pixels
Front-facing Boomsound speakers
Snapdragon 810
Adreno 430 graphics
3GB of RAM

Main difference being a 20.7MP camera on the back incl. a dual_LED flash and a possible 13MP front-faced camera.

If rumours are right it will be revealed 1st March at HTC's pre-MWC launch event.

Doesn't look like a massive difference, and as for the camera, more megapixels doesn't always mean better performance; The One M8 gets slated for its camera, but IMO its actually quite underrated and does pretty well with anything other than outright detail. Compared with my mates Z3, it certainly does better indoors and on auto. The latter obviously does better in manual mode however, a good phone camera should deliver a decent result without messing about. Not to say this one wont, but I'm disappointed they haven't made it an 8 mpx Ultrapixel camera instead.

The M8's camera is terrible in everything other than somewhat-low light.

They should put the android back, home and active app buttons on that big black strip of plastic below the screen. Its a waste of space having them take up real estate on the actual display...

That's why I missed my S4.

Yep, absolutely appalling.

I have an m8 and comparing pictures to a Nokia Lumia 925 or a 930 and the difference is massive.

The 925 only has an 8.7MP camera, but the snaps are sharp and very crisp. Very disappointed with the m8 camera.

Try editing those in Photoshop.
Why would I want to? If I wanted proper photos I'd use a proper camera, which you don't generally get on a phone.

I've also had a Lumia which was better than most phone camera but ultimately still wasn't all it was cracked up to be by some.

I think most would agree the photos in my post above are more than acceptable for most people.

The camera was the one thing putting me off the M8 last year, so if they do upgrade then I'll be tempted...

It put me off for a while but then I realised it really wasn't all that bad, for what most people will want it for. It's like a lot of Internet hearsay, not completely without justification but usually blown massively out of proportion.

I don't think that is it. HTC said they were going to shrink the bezels. Don't think it will look exactly the same as the M8. Unless HTC are going Apple, doing a kind of M8s release.

Thing is the design of the M8 got a lot of positive feedback so I wouldn't be surprised if they kept the design quite similar

Same. The M9 is so gonna be mine when it's out now they've upgraded the camera. I've always liked the look of HTC's UI too without ever actually owning one.

Most of those have been cropped, besides most phone photos look utterly gash zoomed in, even phones with high mpx counts, where they just trade detail for grain. Each to their own but those pics look fine, decent even. Stop exaggerating.

Isn't that the case on any camera (including point and shoots etc) when using digital zoom?

HTC must have decided that the ultra pixel experiment has been a faliure, otherwise they wouldn't have abandoned it. The big problem with the M8 camera was the dropping of OIS (even if it was the limited two axis in the M7). An ultrapixel front camera would be decent as a selfie flash is overkill.

HTC certainly should not make a backward step and put capacitive buttons on the black HTC bar. Physical/capacitive buttons have no place in Android these days. They should ditch the bar instead.

The question is though, are we talking about a technical failure or a marketing one?
In other words are the ultrapixel cameras simply not good enough, or did HTC not do a good enough job convincing the public that more megapixels does not specifically mean better.

Both.

It is true that more megapixels <> better quality, however too few megapixels = bad quality in actual use.

The best compromise is the iPhone 6/6+ camera with large pixels but a decent resolution. Even as an Android person I'll admit that the iPhone has a far better camera than any Android phone.

Leaks are coming thick and fast for this one and there's still over 5 weeks to go before it's officially revealed.

More clearer pics of the HTC One (M9) - http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_m9_n...news-10874.php

Plus there's a HTC One Plus (M9) variant which will be the phablet version which is set to include a 5'5 inch QHD display and a fingerprint scanner.

I read that the battery would be 2840mah which doesn't seem like it'd be quite big enough? Another site is saying 3500mah so it's not totally clear yet.

The Plus version supposedly offering 4100mah too which is the one I'll go with I think. The fingerprint scanner is swaying me but hopefully it beats Samsung's attempt. I'm hoping they'll release them both at the same time as I'm counting down the days until March!
