I know people probably think she's a bit pathetic and thick, but I think there's a real sadness about her. She obviously has very, very low self esteem and is body dysmorphic as a result, but I also see her as quite childlike. Several years ago there was a documentary about her on BBC Three and her elder daughter is obviously the mother in the relationship with Alicia as the child, the elder daughter was also being a mum to her baby sister. It was very sad, but Alicia was completely unable to parent them as a mother should, she's just far too immature and self absorbed.

I wonder what the hell has happened in her background to make her so bloody messed up?

She's dyslexic and was treated as "thick" by the teachers. She was also apparently abused. Her father used to call her "ugly" and "stupid", think there was a whole lot more than that but yeah, seems her entire childhood was messed up bless her. Just wish she'd have had more help and support before she went through all the surgery.

Absolutely. She only gets my sympathy, not my judgement. As I said on another thread, it doesn't take a genius to work out something really went wrong there. Having a go at her for it isn't going to help.

I was thinking exactly the same. But then it occurred to me that she is a 'celebrity'. She's clearly tough enough to survive in that world. So my sympathy is restrained. But yeah, clearly there is something not quite right when someone has received so little attention as a child that they didn't even learn the basic things. It's hard not to feel for her. But then, as someone said, it's possible she's made a career from being a professional victim. Which in itself is sad..... aaggh! Round and round in circles with her!

I agree. She's got a lot of unfair stick on this forum, but she's really not in any way nasty or aggressive. I do feel she's an easy target and the way Katie Hopkins treats her is really poor (though I sometimes think Hopkins herself has some sort of psychological problem herself).

Don't we all (to some extent) I think it's the human condition.

I didn't know any of this. I wonder if she caught on that Katie H was patronising her when she was talking about home schooling, learning her alphabet etc with her child.

I think she does. She's actually quite emotionally perceptive and seemed to pick up on who'd nominated her pretty easily.

No... She didn't. She was in the DR a few minutes later telling BB how much she enjoyed having a great conversation with Katie. 'A guilty pleasure'. Sadly, I think she is as stupid as she makes out.

There have been far more "messed up" people on it than Alicia. She said the other day something about when she was working on the shopping channel (I think?) that they went bust or something and she lost all her money (Although obviously the huge amount of money she spent on surgery won't have helped) - but yeah, she's basically skint and said as much herself.
