I gave myself a present of a One + One for Christmas. I am extremely happy with the phone. I am on a Virgin Mobile contract for another 8 weeks. As Virgin do not have a 4G network I am thinking of moving to 3 when my contract ends. I have enquired in several 3 phone shops and have been given conflicting information as to whether my phone will work on the 3 4G network.

Any advice would be very welcome.

It will yes, it just wont pickup the 800mhz frequency they're starting / started to roll out, but you will get the 4G on the 1800mhz band which is mostly what they have now

Thanks for your quick response.
From what you say it suggests that the future is 800mhz. Will they still keep the 1800mhz band?

800 mhz is likely to be Three's rural and building penetration solution. 1800 mhz is not going away but may not feature too much outside of urban areas.

Someone with more knowledge of three's rollout may have more info.

I think a phone that supports 800MHz is a must on Three for the fact that they will be doing a national rollout on 800MHz, for indoor coverage and rural areas.

1800MHz wont go away, but everyone knows Three has indoor issues and hopefully 800MHz will improve on that.

As mentioned above it seems Three are looking to roll out a lot of 800mhz, so while you will be able to use 4G on Three on the OPO, you'd likely get better 4G coverage on a different phone in the future.

However since you already have the phone, yes it will work on Three's 4G just potentially not as well as others in the future.

By the time Three actually rollout 800MHz where you are you probably wont have the OPO any more.

As long as you use it on EE or Three you'll be fine

Using it on Voda or O2 is pointless if you want 4G as it don't work.

Technically Voda may rollout out some of their 2600 4g band in urban areas - so eventually you may get small pockets of 4g available.
