Advice on Flash MP3 Players
millsner

I'm looking for advice on flash MP3 players. I've been told they're better for jogging with since they don't have moving parts but what else should I look for?

I've looked at the iPod Shuffle but that doesn't have a screen apparently. What else is available? Any comments or suggestion are welcome.

Paul.

try looking on somewhere like amazon.co.uk
some of the better manufacturers are:
creative labs, Rio, iRiver and a few others.

I have a Sony NW-E99 it has 1GB of Flash Memory and is absolutely tiny, so will have no problem taking out whilst jogging. Very simple to operate as well. At £130-£140 on Amazon it is a good option.

According to Computer Buyer, there's a new range of Sonys ready for launch in April - may be worth hanging on for?

The Creative Muvo Micro is imminently going to have £10 knocked of the price to make it £99 and be a clear winner in a fight with the iPod Shuffle. It's available in the same 8 out of the 10 Zen Micro colours and has an FM Tuner.

I bought a Sony NWE 99 a few months ago and haven't had any problems.

The software's quite easy to use (despite some reviews giving this a kicking). I've got about 600 songs on the player using the smallest compression and don't really notice a difference in the sound compared to the higher rates. Still got room for about 50 - 6- more songs.

Battery life is quite good and i think you can get them on Amazon now for about £110.

The only slight complaint is that i can't figure out how to get it to play radomly between both memory sticks (the 1gb is split into two sections) but i'm sure i'm not pressing the right buttons - if anyone knows please give me a shout.

can you use any of these sony mp3 players like a normal disk drive on the pc without having to use the software manager provided?
