Paul was indeed very good but Tim 's absence won't be tolerated for very long by the BH faithful.
I disagree. How nice it was to watch the show without having to put up with Tim's cringeworthy voice-over during the teams shopping, and with his gurning into his own camera! Paul did a remarkable job in Tim's absence.

I thought Paul did a good job, too. I don't really watch BH all that much, but I did think I would watch more if Tim wasn't on it ... his voice-over annoys me.

Whoever is standing in for Tim today is terrible. Over acting and trying to be like Tim. embarrassing to watch.

Let's hope he's disappeared for good and taken the show to an obscure satellite channel, where it belongs.
Why? You do know it still rates quite well for what it is.

Judging by its ratings - it's a massive daytime show.

Dreadful wasn't he. Way too forced and OTT. They seem to trying out various different (alleged) experts as hosts. I hope they realise he was a mistake. Still, at least they haven't inflicted Kate Bliss on us yet.

Yes, totally agree. Didnt Kate Bliss try to present her own show on ITV?

There are far better experts on BH that would be good at presenting - they seem to have chosen the worst one there.

He's one of my favourites. A great British eccentric who is jolly has boundless energy and also knows his stuff.

This the second time in a few weeks that Hanson has hosted the show. Strangely, the first time he was surprisingly good, having toned down his trademark over-enthusiasm and barely controlled speech mannerisms. This time, though, he's reverted to the eccentric Charles that I find pretty well unwatchable when he's doing the normal experts role.

Having said all this, he's taken full advantage of his television exposure to become a true celebrity auctioneer with a dedicated following in his saleroom, which always seems to be packed on televised auction days. There are an awful lot of people who like the very things about him that make me cringe.

And, of course, you can't but admire the way he's coped with the very hard personal situations he's had to contend with in the last few years.

I'd have thought that Tim would have his hair couriered to a specialist for dyeing.

Agree about Christina. She was excellent as the stand in presenter, and also when she did a recent Road Trip. In fact, the only times where she hasn't really sparkled were when she was seen doing her proper job as auctioneer, ironically, where she seemed a little shy, and lacking confidence.

I thought that too.

What was even stranger was that it was the same auction, with the same experts, and Charles was wearing the same suit and tie, so the two episodes had clearly been filmed on the same day!

They could have got David Barby to do it. He seems to crop regularly these days, even though he died 30 months ago.
I thought that as well, is he really dead?

I think Christina has been a wonderful addition to every BBC show she has been on. She seems like such a warm and friendly person.

But is it wrong that I have a MAJOR thing for Charles Hanson.

I saw one episode where he had a distinct lack of hair (filmed just after his Cancer Treatment I'd guess) and it made me love him just a little bit more. He's just such a little cutie... his (admittedly gorgeous) wife is my Public Enemy Number One! LOL

Yes they do film two episodes on the same day, they also film two at the antique fairs. I am a regular at Hansons auctions and it is annoying when Bargain Hunt is there because the room is full of gawpers,, they have no intention of bidding, they just want to be on telly.

It makes me laugh when Tim is talking to the auctioneer, to get their assessment of the 'bargains'. The contestants think they're onto a sure fire profit with their purchase, and Tim says 'So what do you think of this joker?'

LOL! What wrong with a nicely boiled rabbit?!? You make me sound 'strange'!

Tbh- there is something about Charles that seems quite eccentric-which i think makes him a bit of a sweetheart.

But he seems to know f*** all about antiques and collectables-so in that respect he is a bit of a British Brandori.

I really need to stop watching daytime TV. LOL

And a nice, big round arse.

TBH, she was easily the best of the stand-ins. Very professional. I'm not into all these over the top eccentricities. Just put your ego on hold and present the damn show!!

Christina was the only stand-in who didn't make me cringe.

Paul Laidlaw was good, but Christina has a better arse, of that there is no doubt.
