I always find it interesting that people make such huge, sweeping statements on housemates, even though we only see 45 minutes of them out of 24 hours.

We only see a fraction of what really goes on, the editing team are very clever in making situations seem worse than they are or twisting the footage to create a certain storyline.

I wish we could see what really happens, not just focussing on the camera-attention-seeking 'bigger' characters and see whats going on with the others. Or see the 'big' characters out of our supposed view of them.

We can only judge the housemates based on what we see in the highlights show every night. Some people on here say that we shouldn't judge them because of it being hours and hours that's squeezed into 45 minutes actual time, but what else do we have? Nothing.

Agreed. We've recently found out that Kav and Keith have a bit of a history in the house. We knew nothing of this, because we've been given a tiny percentage of them. This goes for any housemate though really as conversations are chopped and edited together so context is often lost. Can we really make a sound judgement on any of them? Just sit back and enjoy the ride, I say.

I guess the forum would be a bit empty if everyone felt like they couldn't form any opinions due to a lack of knowledge.

It creates a nice safety net though:-

when our fave housemate comes across well and/or our least fave comes across badly = the highlights show IS an accurate portrayal of what happens in the house.

when our fave housemate comes across badly and/or our least fave comes across well = manipulated and over-edited footage.

It's what we are here for. We are the metaphorical 'baying mob'. Each of us judge and jury on those who have chosen to go into the goldfish bowl that is the BB house.

On the CBB they get paid well so we feel more able to make those sweeping statements, on the normal BB they get their faces on TV and we are still able to pass judgement.

Not exactly edifying or even tasteful TV, but everyone is a winner, or at least that's how it appears....

I feel I can make a sound judgement on Perez Hilton and Katie Hopkins because they are essentially no different in there than they are outside of the house. The only difference is while I can't stand Katie Hopkins, I do think she makes a good HM. But I find Perez beyond repulsive.

But re the others, I agree. To judge them solely on the strength of the HLs would be silly.
