Alexander on Matthew Wright
EvieJ
21-01-2015
Matthew Wright had a discussion this morning about attention seekers. The majority of which was about Perez (what a shocker!). Needless to say most of them said they'd like to throttle him etc

Matthew referred to Perez as having drove Alex to utter a homophobic insult and left rather than punch him. Alexander is expected to join them on Friday for an exclusive chat.

Well as I normally like the programme I think we can assume I don't mean Matthew although his beard is driving me a bit mad it really doesn't suit him.

It makes him look 20 years older.

BiB - this sort of thing really annoys me. Homophobia should not be excused, no matter what they provocation. Address the behaviour, due, but don't make it about him being gay.

Who was that cretinous woman in the audience at the end of the debate? "I'm a singer songwriter and I know what it's like being in showbiz"... err yes ok, good luck with that

Well that's what I found interesting. MW, from what I've seen is usually strongly against homophobia and racist attitudes. It wasn't the discussion but no one else actually referred to the comment. The majority of the articles I've seen lead with Alex leaving rather than the remark he made.

I don't think anyone would condone those remarks but, in this situation it seems that the provocation does seem to been taken into consideration where others in the public eye have been judged according to their words.

Murder should not and is not excused but provocation can be sufficient mitigation to reduce the charge or the sentence.

Using a word that society deems unacceptable does not necessarily make one homophobic. In my estimation he was pushed beyond his breaking point and lashed out. The faggot sentence to me was a common or garden insult in which someone who happened to be gay was insulted (with some justification given that person's behaviour) as opposed to being insulted for being gay.
