Vesta crispy noodles

Used to love Vesta chow mein and particularly those crispy noodles that came with it

Being 643267 years old I can remember when they guessed to sell crispy noodles separate but they haven't done that for years

Just wondering what they are actually made from and whether I can make my own to chuck on top of the odd spaghetti bolognese or curry

Well yes, there are versions of crispy noodles. Not sure what type of noodles Vesta used but you can deep fry egg noodles, rice noodles etc. to crisp them up.

Rice noodles balloon up instantly. Egg noodles will take a little longer to crisp and won't balloon up.

There was always one in every pack that refused to crisp up and just sat there in the pan turning black and burnt........

Here is a youtube video of some being cooked. They puffed up almost instantly.

Blue Dragon make them. I bought a box in Morrisons. They're exactly the same as the old Vesta ones.

I've had blue dragon one before and they weren't even remotely like the Vesta ones but I'll give them another try

I think you might be buying the wrong ones. They're in a small blue box. Like another poster, I thought they were exactly the same. To say they're not remotely like them, is a wee bit of an exaggeration.

Nope. Strange, since it's the Blue Dragon product site. Lol. Was only the end of last year I bought them. I just did a Google search.

The blue dragon ones are OK, but do taste different to the vesta ones to me.

I have been known to buy a vesta chow mein just for the crispy noodles. I keep the soft noodles too but check the meat.... type... stuff.
