EE appears to be having a bad day as its Data Network appears to be suffering an outage.

My EE sim seems ok for what its worth.

I like the comments to that article, it confirms the theory that people don't realise how different the networks can be.

But I guess it's up there with the people making the pronouncement that a network has "no coverage anywhere" because there is actually no coverage in their house.

And one idiot who appears to think BT already owns EE.

The network "crashed" earlier this morning, with the problems appearing to peak around 9am. Calls and texts were (mostly) fine, it was just 2G/3G/4G data.

Downdetector had complaints from London to Aberdeen, Northern Ireland to Middlesborough.

For most people, the problem has long been resolved.

That must be why I didn't notice anything then, I have been Newcastle to Leeds and back, no problems at all.

Well there are still 5 MBNL masts completely off down here.
No 2G/3G/4G at all.
In fact I spent the morning connected to the old Orange masts (which are still all on down here) and remembered just how good the old 2G Orange was!
This could be unconnected and more to do with 4G upgrades.

I doubt it has anything to do with where you were. Partner didn't have any data in Newcastle.

The flag isn't driven by country of purchase but by the SIM card installed. I've seen the 4G flag for HSPA when I went to the US on a 4s. (I don't anymore that's been fixed).

Do a reboot of the phone (hold home and sleep/wake buttons until you see apple logo), or just go to airplane mode and then off again, and see if restarting the radio fixes it.

My EE limited edition PAYG SIM was also down, it was strange I could retrieve someone else's account details with phone number via add-on.ee.co.uk/status but not much else.
