OK, my dad has decided he wants a Smartphone for his 70th birthday

I'm looking at 5" models becuase he likes my sisters S5,- but I don't have that sort of budget . What can I get with a 5" screen for £150-200 maximum?

The new Moto G I already know about. Anything else?

I'd say this is excellent for the price.

I got an LG G3 but you might be able to get the G2 cheaper and the G4 might be out in a few more months.

Several reasons.

1 720p on a 6" phablet screen, He should be better able to read the text on it.
2 Battery. If a light user he might get a week out of it.
3 Its bent so if a tiny bit deaf, the mouthpiece and earpiece sit in the right place.

Seems you now , at least today, have the Fire Phone at £99 for £32 GB or £150 for 64GB.

Wins hands down for price/performance. Even the battery life is OK.

It is aimed at the top end, though as we know that can be meaningless

This is what I would recommend at that age. Don't spend £150 as it is complete overkill. The Moto G is better but costs significantly more. Both are as difficult to use as each other.

Or better still...
Nokia Lumia 630 £80

One of our staff loves it because "I just do this" (he pinches to zoom) "and I can see my messages in big text!"

+1 for Nokia, simple, clean UI, very fast even at a low end HW specs. Unless your dad starts whining that he can't root it or customise it more

The bugger screen is worth a tenner.

I have to agree with you on that one, the 3C is a terrific phone, even the Honor 6 is as well.

The Emotion UI may grate on some, however v3 is much nicer and flat, in keeping with the eventual lollipop update. Huawei are only just starting up their European operation relative to flagship level devices.

If you buy with Amazon they also do the warranty (I think) so any problems you would go back to them.

I got the Honor 6 a couple of weeks back, and its actually becoming my main phone in place of the beast that is the Galaxy Note 4

Huawei are definitely a brand to consider.
