I understood it perfectly well and I am sure most people don't need punctuation or even correct spelling to understand the gist of what is being said why do you feel the need to be the self-appointed punctuation-police?

I hate these race distinctions but I thought people are classed either black or white .

Oh dear, that's just plain rude. Michelle is a bit of a Know-all.

what annoys me are people on here who argue with facts especially when put in front of them in black and white for them to see, ive stated lots of times in this thread that hispanic is not a race its simply a person from latin american countries or has roots there and they are of any race, i have stated celebs who are white and still latino and evan posted articles but people are still arguing lol. and yes people from spain are white but some people in this thread will proberly say they are black just to argue for the sake of it lol.

It's a "one drop" thing. If you can look carefully and spot a little bit of pigment....
Concepts of who's white, who's in, who's out etc. vary all over the world.

Michelle was stupid to want to make her (dubious) point, instead of just letting Cami tell her story, as she experienced it.

It's the same every series. There is always such vitriol aimed towards any strong, confident female.

If you watch police shows, they talk about " IC 2 Male ..." Or " IC 3 Male... " etc

Sorry to sound ignorant, but what is the difference between Hispanic and Latino? I've always wondered this.

I remember watching a US show once, who described Penelope Cruz as Latino, which I thought was strange at the time as it's a very American term and she's European.

I get what Michelle was saying about owning your heritage, but I also think at times she needs to stop obsessing about labels.

You've hit the nail on the head there. She is all about the labels.

latino and hispanic are the same thing. the reason i called out on michelle is because a latino can be of any race, some are black some are white and some are native american and some are mixed between all and so on.

Also the Republican party have whipped up racism, even more because the Hispanic population tend to vote Democrat...so Fox News and GOP talking heads have whipped up a frenzy of hatred in America towards Hispanics. And now Cuban embargo is ending, there are even more tensions....

I think you are missing the point I made. I am not saying there are no white Latinos, of course there are. There are whole communities in some South American countries made up of German immigrants, who are all white and many South American come from pure Spanish heritage. The point is Cami is not one of them. She is clearly mixed race heritage, probably Indian. This is what Michelle was saying and Cami acknowledged.

For most Indigenous (ie only 2nd or 3rd gen immigrants) CBB viewers including me the subtleties will be lost and it seems like an impossible minefield to navigate safely. So far this series negro, coloured and now white are all "bad" labels. I felt a little sorry for the older generation getting pulled up for their terminology being out of date when they didn't mean any offence, but it's getting a bit silly. If a police (person) asks me to describe a criminal, I might get taken to court for calling them tall/short/fat/thin/ginger/bald etc ?

fair enough although i have seen some whites who do have dark natural complexions and hair but of course i dont know exactly what camis heritage is she could easily be of spanish descent or maybe she is mestizo(mixed native american and spanish)

In Europe I think we hear Latino, not so much Hispanic

Michelle Visage was born Michelle Lynn Shupack.
Maybe her surname indicates Croatian ancestry. Is she supposed to own her Slavic ethnicity?

In an increasingly mixed world a lot of these celebrations of origins are so much irrelevant nonsense.

By the way, Cami was apparently born in Puerto Rico, not Cuba.
