Spring roll pastry advice please
I bought some spring roll pastry sheets from the chinese supermarket. I had been looking for the spring roll wrappers but they never had them. my question is do you have to fry them or can they be eating raw?
I was going to make rice paper rolls a Nigella recipe and noticed she doesn't cook them. |

Are they egg based or rice based.
The rice ones can be soaked in water to make them plyable and eaten. The egg based ones should be cooked. |

degsyhufc is right. The rice ones look like clear plastic discs. I put them in a wide shallow dish and pour just enough hot water over them to soak them. They become sticky and plyable. The spring roll skins are square and normally kept in the freezer section in the Chinese supermarket. I then normally leave them to defrost a bit to be able to peel one skin from the top before stuffing. But these do need to be fried or steamed...
