You can still listen to it here.
http://www.stereogum.com/1731414/rih...-seconds/mp3s/ Its not at all what I was expecting from her, but I still quite like it. Doesn't sound like it will be huge though, but I suppose there is no indication this is actually the lead single from her next album, could just be a taster. |

I can't decide if it's a good song or a bad song, yet.
It has the mood of an after party song, a certain kind of longing to a bygone time, I assume McCartney is responsible for that. I could imagine the song as a closing to the film Dazed and Confused. PS I only can tell for a certain that Kanye has lost his touch. |

Honestly, whatever was doing the backing vocals in Kanye's verse needs to stop. It's unexpected for her but all I did was cringe on the first listen and I couldn't make it through the second. Perhaps it's a grower. Right now the production is too spare and neither she nor Kanye (and Sir Paul if he was the thing wailing under Kanye) has the vocals to sustain it.
It's probably going to be a number one hit. |

I only listened to the first part. I do like it, the lyrics are catchy. I just hope this ends up being the acoustic version though.

I actually like the song but definitely not single material. Hope it's just a buzz track.

Her voice sounds amazing. Really raw.

Listening to this now and a couple of points.
1. I agree, the backing vocalist on Kanye's verses needs to be muted. 2. It sounds too empty, like it's an early demo and they're waiting for the main producer to drop some beats over the top. 3. I love the chorus, this is definitely a good thing in the long run. 4. It just ends. Surely they will make a proper ending to the song rather as if someone just came along and pressed the stop button. |

Her voice does sound more stronger which is good.
Don't know how I feel about the song yet. If anything I'd prefer it to be an album track than the lead single, guess we'll find that out soon. |

You can tell she's been working hard on her vocals. Her recent live performances of "Stay" and "Diamonds" have been very good.
She sounds so raw on this song. |

I hope it gets uploaded to Spotify. I'm obsessed with it now but I'm also going to need a solo version and a remixes ep.

I am now obsessed with it.
Rihanna is great at being ahead of what's happening right now on radio. I remember when We Found Love debuted and people had a very mixed reaction to that. Then it was the same when Diamonds debuted, ironically people expected We Found Love version 2. I think this will go down as another Rihanna hit tbh. |

Really not impressed by this one - needs a beat, chorus too repetitive, all just generally a bit raw and un-produced...

I believe it's going to be released tomorrow in the UK.
I'd rather see FourFiveSeconds get to #1 in the UK over the lame fest that is the new Fergie single. Of course it'll probably do an "Only One" and chart at #32 or something as if a song isn't available on Spotify, it ends up having a massive impact on where the song officially charts. |

I wonder if this could end up #1 on iTunes in the UK? It'd need to sell bucketloads to knock Uptown Funk off the top spot.

It's so bland and average and it took 9 people to write it, 9 people FFS! Compare this to Laura Marling's new song 'False Hope' which took just one writer and it's hard to believe that this Rihanna song will somehow be a hit.
If you are going to go down the acoustic route you really need to make it much more interesting than this, not that it matters it'll sell because it's different for her. |
