Inspired by the earlier thread of Emperor's New Clothes has got me thinking about Katie Hopkins' obsession with Perez.

The protagonist in Moby Dick had an obsession to destroy a particular whale. In the end the obsession destroys him instead.

Do you think Katie H and her apparent obsession with bringing down Perez is an obsession that will end up bringing her down?

Hopefully it will be her downfall.

Well .............didn't she say he has more back fat than a blue whale?


FWIW - I don't think her ridiculous campaign against Perez has done her any favours at all - she's coming out of it looking like a child or a fool,

I think she believes it'll win her votes - I think she's rapidly losing support.

I read the thread title and thought no big deal ... they can cure that with a dose of antibiotics these days

But what about Perez's obsession with Katie Hopkins? It was Perez who started it with his attack on her. He spends time every day mocking her, goading her, smirking at her, doing obnoxious things where she can see him. She's not reacting in a vacuum.

And then there is Nadia's obsession with Katie H. Does she talk about anyone or anything else in the DR.. like ever?

I do think she's handled him very badly indeed. Attention and the more negative the better is the air he breathes. I had hopes for her when she was suggesting people ignore him but as she's found it impossible to do herself.. well that might bring her down. She's had trouble rising above his antics, which is a shame.

We can live in hope. About it being her downfall .... not the treating of her moby with antibiotics .....

As for the OP's analogy it would be such poetic justice for Katie's obsession with bringing Perez down, now bordering on harassment, to be a factor in her downfall and it almost feels like it is happening

All you say above is as maybe. But I wasn't trying to explore Katie H by comparison to other HMs. I am not even judging her actions per se. Her obsession, if indeed obsessed is what she is becoming, may be wholly understandable. My question though is will it destroy her?

I am simply drawing from an observation in life and in this case literature, that an obsessive bitterness, hatred etc is often self destructive.

I loved Nadia before she went into the house, loved her on Celebrity Masterchef ...... but she has let me down big time.

It is captain Ahab, one of Gregory Pecks worst ever acting roles, IMO.

KH is making a prize t*t of herself. Her grotesque face pulling, (as if she wasn't bad enough looking) gurning and ott gesticulations are a sight to behold. I'm loving her make an absolute arse of herself.

Me too .................I've never been able to stomach the woman but thought that maybe there might be some intelligence or wit behind it.

Turns out there is neither - she's showing herself up to be a ridiculous, inarticulate overgrown school girl.

I did wonder in the early weeks if KH was trying to reinvent herself to become a mainstream commentator. In fact it was a post of your YesNoMan that got me wondering along those lines.

I think it clear now that she is not main stream material and may very well have altered the brand she had carved out.

In the meantime she seems to be doing her nut and looks ready to implode at times. She can't get to Perez and she will never get to Perez, not because he is a better person (far from it) but because he is what he is. But will she self destruct trying.?
