But there wasn't that great an effect on the final result by the judges vote was there?Unless they swayed people who've only tuned ino this for The Final.

Realistically, Jodie and Danny are far better dancers, consistent week in week and week out. I'm stunned Sadie and Joseph won, but I doubt it'll mean D & J wont be snapped up and become professionals.

What happened to their movie dances? I thought they were supposed to be doing Dirty Dancing?

And how awful was the whole polka routine? Ghastly costumes and a ghastly dance.

Until this evening I felt Danny and Jodie were the better couple, and I do feel quite sorry for them although they'll clearly have a professional career. But Joseph and Sadie outdid them this evening in every dance, and I was very pleased for both of them.

Reading all the cheeky and ignorant comments about them from people who've clearly never had a dance lesson in their lives, I'm delighted that you lot are "dissapointed" (sic). LOL

I think that the right people won on the night, Danny& Jodie took it for granted that they would win. The dance that they did to bugsy marlone was not as good as they danced it last week. If last week was the final Danny and Jodie would of won. But they were both bad sports cause they did'nt even go up and say well done to Sadie and Joseph.

Whatever they say, they missed a lift in the free dance - either that or the choreography was awful - and they were out with the beat of the music at the start.
Since when is dragging a chair round the stage inventive choreography anyway.
With regard to the sob stories - I thought Joseph had peaked too soon with the dad story last week - but no, managed to pull the live mum never having seen him dance/reconciliation one out the bag just in time in a footloose stylee
By the way, did anybody else see Jodie say to Danny after their marks in the free dance something like they've made it easy for us to loose now - it was definitely something along those lines but lip reading isn't my strong point!

I was really disappointed for Jodie and Danny tonight. I thought they had performed consistently each week.

Did anyone see the BBC3 show when Zoe Ball asked them if they planned to continue dancing together? Jodie said no and that Danny was too good a dancer and would be on the west end one day.

She came across as desperately trying to keep her emotions in check long enough to get through the interview whilst Danny was full of enthusiasm for the future.

I sincerely hope that Jodie was just reacting off the cuff and that once she has a chance to get over her disappointment that she will reconsider.

I really really felt for her tonight.

Very interesting Mindyann, I did notice that Jodie said something to Danny but don't know what (wish I'd taped it now !). Great series though, hope they do another. Good luck Danny and Jodie is what I say !

I felt more like she was trying to fish for praise to boost herself after the disappointment at losing (like - "oh no Jodie, you are wonderful, don't worry"etc). I love Danny and Jodie though, well done to them.

I think that's a bit harsh. I honestly think she was absolutely gutted. After hearing about how she's been trying for years and years to become professional, including the time in the USA, which she said compeltely knocked her confidence and to be told pretty much from the start to the end they will win, she had to get her hopes up. And then to lose, I felt for her and Danny so much.

It came across on the shows that she was highly self-critical and not as confident as she appears when dancing. I hope she and Danny make a real go of it and fingers crossed become professional (they are certainly talented enough).

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, hello everyone, first post from me, so sorry if I've not quite got 'in sync' with the board and posting yet!

Hi there Mintylady welcome aboad the board.

Can I just say I felt sorry for Nathan tonight as well - Hey Christie here's a contract for Grease - Nathan - get yer coat. Poor lad had to stand there like a lemon - it was proably made worse by Graham saying there was a suprise for them implying him to but no!

I totally agree with you mindyann about Nathan. I mean they could have been *slightly* more sensitive about it (putting it mildly). But saying that he did look very pleased for her- seems like such a nice boy (think I should stop now before I start sounding like my mother even more!)

YAY! The best couple won - Joseph and Sadie!

They fully deserved it IMO - really pleased for them, the suit each other as dancers and make a great team more than Danny and Jodie.

At least the people I supported won, which never seems to happen much!

Good first post!

Everyone I spoke to (who were neutral) said that both couples were so outstanding it would come down to the night. And it did. Sadie and Joseph were better on the night.

If everyone here is disappointed by that (with a few exceptions) how come they won? Were they really that bad? And I do not know anyone who voted tonight on the sympathy vote..after all Jodie said she would die or something like that, and cried, last week, if she didn't win. Claire had her dad turn up three weeks ago which got sympathy.

I think most people on a show like this do not think..'oh bless...his mum is here'..I think you have to credit people with actually voting on the dancing..and that is what I and alot of people I know did.

Both were fantastic, both deserved to win, but when push came to shove..Joseph and Sadie were the best on the night.

That's it really.

Btw..I am a Joseph and Sadie fan, and have been from the start, but if Danny and Jodie had won (which I expected them too going by the judges) I would have been alot nicer about it than alot of people in here have been about Sadie and Joseph. I would have said they both deserved it, but technically the others were better. In this case, Joseph and Sadie excited me. Are you guys who are mad that Joseph and Sadie won, really saying you think they are not worthy and are not good dancers? As everyone who was in the final did brilliantly tonight. I am very confused

Yes on shows like BB and others, the sympathy vote can win, but on shows were you have a skill...does that really make a difference? Joseph could have had a breakdown tonight on tv, but if he had danced badly I would not have wanted him to win. And do the couples have anything to do with the editing?

Edited to say..hi new guys on here being a newbie myself..and also to say, they will all do well out of it anyway. They'll get offers they could never have dreamed of before this show. And yes...I did feel for Nathan too...bless!

Indeed!

Jodie and Sadie's Waltz was rightly slammed by the judges last week (not that being able to waltz has much relavence to being able to dance in a West End show).

"Freestyle" however is a different beast. S+J's routine was innovative and "free". D+J's routine was just a bog standard dance - nothing challenging, nothing inventive, just nothing.

Both couples were great in different ways. D+S's Charleston routine was fantastic. But the judges were fair in being less than complimentary about their freestyle dance on the night.

Either couple deserved to win if for different reasons. Can't wait to see J+S on "top of the pops". Wonder if they will give them more than a background role?

A lot of you are saying 'Sadie and Joseph were better on the night and so they deserved to win".
However, in my opinion (and this goes for all reality tv shows) in the final and semi final I always vote for the ones who I have thought have been good all the way through. For example, on Big Brother, I don't just vote for the housemate who I had liked and had been better since the last eviction, I vote for who think have been the best throughout the programme.
This is the same for SDF. I think Danny and Jodie had been the best throughout. They managed to do 2 sets of dances that got the highest score of 40 by the judges, whereas Joseph and Sadie only got 1 40 last night. Last week Joseph and Sadie got a really low score for their Waltz, Danny and Jodie didn't even get that low for their freestyle.
I also felt that when it showed the last clips of the couples, it did seem to show the emotive side to Sadie and Joseph's story (Sadie and her grandad, Joseph and his family) more than they did with Danny and Jodie (they only showed bits where it said how much they were enjoying it, like all the couples were saying, it didn't show how Jodie was so upset that she was turned down in the US). I do feel that this might have swayed the votes slightly towards Sadie and Joseph, as showing emotive things like that is very persuasive.
I have also felt throughout the series that as the prize was something as big as a dancing contract, I don't think the viewers should have got the final say if it was 50/50. The judges know what they are talking about, a lot of the viewers probably don't know much about dancing. The judges are the ones that will help the dancers as proffessionals, not the viewers. I do know however, they probably did this to keep the public interested.
Like some of you have mentioned earlier, I felt sorry for Nathan when they dragged him and Christie up to the front and only offered Christie a job. But it was nice that Nathen was pleased for her.
I also hoped that at the end, whoever won, I hoped that the judges were going to offer the couple who came second a contract too!
Does anyone know that as Sadie and Joseph are now professionals, are they still going to be a dancing couple, or are they going to go their seperate ways in dance?

I fully agree.

So on a recount ... Joseph and Sadie still won

C'mon, it wasn't Strictly Come Dancing. The runners up in SDF would have been streets ahead if it had been Thier formal dances were much better.

I was so delighted that Sadie and Joseph won the competition. I find watching them soooo exciting.

Danny and Jodie were good dancers, but that was all. In my opinion, Sadie and Joseph had that little bit extra and would gain so much more from the experience and training they will now receive. They have more potential than D&J as they also have a talent for choreography.

As sleek as D&J were, their dancing bored me. Whereas, S&J were just so experimental that they bought an extra something to the competition. I would much rather watch them than D&J any day because I know I'd be in for something out of the ordinary.

I thought that Jodie's behaviour was pretty poor last night. I understand that she was disappointed, but she could have had the decency and grace to congratulate her opponents. Being a bad loser is so unattractive.

Lots of interesting views. I have had a LITTLE dance training and can safely say I am rubbish but I do feel qualified to say that I was disappointed that Danny and Jodie did not win. Joseph and Sadie are obviously hugely talented but I preferred the style of the other couple. I hope this doesn't make me cheeky and ignorant. I haven't read anything saying that any couple in the final was rubbish which is where I think ignorance kicks in.

For me, I looked at all of the performances I have seen and overall, I preferred Danny and Jodie. I am sure they will all go on to get something out of this experience.

Like a lot of you, I felt for Nathan when Kristie was given her chance in the tour of Grease and also REALLY felt for Jodie when on the BBC3 programme one of the judges (sorry I forget which one) was saying that she really needs to toughen up as her little speech about Danny being an amazing dancer to go on to do great things and how she wasn't as good was not the right attitude. Give the girl a break, she'd just lost a competition in which, forgive me if I'm wrong, she was one of the hot favourites to win.

I think you can interpret all behaviour from all the contestants whichever way you want. The fact that Danny and Jodie did not congratulate Joseph and Sadie could be because they are bad losers, it could be because they had been told to stay where they were once the result was announced, they could have decided that the winners would rather celebrate with their families than be faced with the awkwardness of facing the losing couple. Who knows!

Great programme, I loved it and hope there's another one.
