Well done Joseph and Sadie! You fully deserved to win!

Perhaps none of you saw Mary Pearce losing the women's tennis final at the French International (Roland Garros, the French Wimbledon). She literally could not help crying with disappointment as the andrelanin leaves competitors quickly after a competition is over. Unless they have a shot of alcohol, they are just left drained and exhausted.
Jody was like Mary Pearce, exhausted, gutted, and the andrelanin that keeps you going during competitions had drained out. She would certainly have gone out and congratulated Sadie at some point, but not when sobbing and unable to control her face. That would not have been professional.

My hope is that the BBC had some other contracts up their sleeves to offer runners up - too cruel to do the whole reality show for one couple only (and for the millions raised for Comic Relief) and to make the other contestants (Kristy apart) go home with nothing.

These young dancers have given up three months of their lives for this competition - so let's hope some talenspotting agents were out there. And I would so not like to see dancers like Jody and Danny wasted on a stupic Pop star backing routine, whereas Sadie and Joseph would bop this perfectly.

This pop show was won by a couple that fitted the bill for the competition. But sometimes the runners up do even better than the winners - look at Fame Academy!!

My good wishes to S and J, and my best wishes for a solid dancing future to J and D. As for Jamie and Clare - if they had won, Clare would have been made to lose 3 stone in weight before being allowed to continue! That could have been cruel.

Not suprised at the result but very disappointed, yet another reality tv show where the winner/winners are are almost handpicked before the show even starts.

Last night was a tale of three halves, the the full of themselves couple who wanted to be in the limelight and get noticed, doing their thing and got it, the focused and extremely competents dancers who deserved to win and the couple who won the publics hearts over the weeks because they were the most unlikely ones to be able to dance.

It was after all dancing competition where the prize was an opportunity for amateurs to turn professional and become part of a dance company,not last night it was a choreography competition, where class and ability to dance did not even enter into it, and favouritism was shown in bucketloads.

Had S& J been the best dancers on the night i would have been pleased for them to have won,but for me they were not, D&J were superb,and C&J danced equally as good as S&J. D&J in my opinion have more talent and style in their little fingers than S&J will ever have, and i certainly would not want them to be backing dancers on TOP or a Music Video,this will suit S&J down to a tea.

There is no doubt in my mind that Danny and Jodie will both go on to have long careers in dance, whether it be together or solo,Sadie and Joseph i feel will part terms, they are each to bolshy to let anyone hog their limelight.

I think the judges were very unfair and cruel to D&J last night after having built them up so much throught the whole series and telling them how near to professional dancers they actully were,only to let them down big time at the last hurdle. I also though the comment that one of the judges made to C&J was uncalled for,to say that they were good but no where near as good as the others i am sure C&J were well aware of that, but they took the contest all in their stride and good on them.

I also do think that once Jodie had had time to get over the initial shock and well away from the cameras she would have congratulated S&J, and i do think she does have alow opinionof herselfand her abilities and it wa just adrenalin that kept her going and giving the suggestion that perhaps she was a little cold, she was in fact just concentrating on what she had to do, and always wanrted to do her very best.


Well dont know what ill do on Saturday evenings now,but i bet that in the not too distant future the BBC will come up with another TV reality show, wonder what it will be., oh yes and they will already know the outcome.

I'm really sorry that this show has come to an end, I've been riveted since week one!

Out of the finalists, I wavered between wanting Danny and Jodie to win because of their grace and the way they move so beautifully together; and wanting Sadie and Joseph to win because they are so exciting and fun to watch. In addition, I thought Claire and James were a fantastic couple, with Claire proving that you don't have to be ultra-skinny to be able to dance well, and James being the perfect partner for her, strong, supportive and a good sense of humour thrown in.

I didn't like the 'sob stories' from any of the contestants, either regarding their families or their own lack of confidence.

I thought the ending was a bit rushed. Some people on here have said they thought Jodie should have been more gracious in defeat, well maybe she should, but it looked to me like she and Danny were pushed to one side once the results were announced - like 'sorry, you didn't win - let's make a fuss of the winners'. I suppose that's natural and Sadie and Joseph were obviously very exicted, but I did feel sorry for Jodie and Danny (hope they get offered work as dancers as they were both really good).

So that's it for this year - I do hope they do it again - and one more thing - I thought Graham Norton did a grand job as presenter! The right mix of concern for the contestants and humour with the judges.

i can see joseph and sadie doing the jive and street numbers but they will be knackerd with most of the other dances because you need the footwork and you need to hold your body right

sadie may get away with it at a strech but joseph wont

So chuffed that Sadie and Joseph won. Danny was such a lovely guy and a fabulous dancer but I couldn't stand that Jodie, really glad she lost seeing the way she reacted. Danny was able to pull it together but she was like a spoiled little bitch, never saw James and Claire behaving like that. They had brilliant personalities and were so likeable. Jodie came across as manipulative, cold, uncaring and ruthless. The Italian judge was spot on in what he said about her on the BBC3 programme.

A fabulous series, roll on the next one, I really hope they do it all again.

Jode was acting very childish last night say that her and danny are not going to dance as a couple they didnot even go and say well done to sadie and joesph there show dance really let them down they judge were right about what they said

I thought that both of the top two couples were absolutely excellent, but I supported Joseph and Sadie throughout the competition and I'm delighted that they won.

Not only did I think that Joseph was the best dancer in the competition, but I also thought that he and Sadie worked best together - and we were supposed to be judging a couple not individuals, as Jodie and Daniel always came across to me. J&S win was very well deserved IMO.

Also liked Graham Norton in this show - although I'm not generally a fan. Hope they bring it back. I'll miss watching it just before Dr Who on Saturdays....

I must say I thought Graham Norton was excellent, far, far better than Bruce Forsythe.

I don't think it was childishness. I think it was the fact that both Sadie and Joseph were bombarded by family and then Graham that they didn't get chance to say well done.

Also the adreneline would have left her and she was gutted, understandably.

A little disappointed with the final result.

In my view Jodie and Danny where streets ahead of Sadie and Joseph - The judges suddenly decided to turn on them after the footloose dance, which there was nothing wrong with.

I dont buy into Joseph and Sadie performing better on the night, because they didn't. In their freestyle routine they chucked in a lot of moves as seen in their initial audition, and at times where not with the beat + they did miss a lift whether they wanted to admit it or not

On saying that, I said to my better half that Jodie needed to ease of a bit when on camera, because she could quite easily be conceived as being arrogant and having a win at all costs attitude. I think a combination of that and the judges turning hurt them badly.

I actually feel most sorry for Danny, that guy is very talented and he had the right attitude.

Zoe ball was a disaster, Graham Norton improved as the shows went on - They certainly wouldn't be suitable for strictly come dancing.

I wanted J & D to win as well................looking on the bright side of things.............whilst J & S are away with their touring show.......it leaves the home market for Danny & Jodie................bet we here about them being signed up for a big West End Show in the very near future.

Can't understand why Joe Mace wasn't given the Saturday night shows..........much better than Zoe Ball.

Joe Mace is a complete tosser. Zoe might not have been great but the very thought of him presenting it. He was appalling on the midweek shows.

Graham was utterly fabulous. I'd love to see him present Strictly Come Dancing, as much as I like Bruce I do have to watch him from behind the sofa cos he is just so cringeworthy.

Agree with everybody who said G Norton Esq was a good presenter. Don't have BBC 3, so can't talk about the others.
Let's tell the BBC that Graham should replace Bruce Forsyth (and those hideous one-liners and his scene-stealing)for Strictly C D.

By the way, has anybody else noticed that the US ratings for the US version of Strictly Come Dancing programme have gone through the roof?
The sequins and chiffon markets are on the rebound, not to mention Fake Tan.

I have been following this discussion with interest as I was gripped by the final show on Saturday and VERY disappointed with the result.

I am not a dance expert but it was clear to even a lay person such as myself that Jodie & Danny were in a class of their own.

The thing that upset me the most was the production slant of the final show. It turned into a Sadie & Joseph PR campaign.

I think that S&J are talented dancers and their creative routines were certainly interesting. But the way in which they were presented by the shows producers on the night was biased and unfair. Let me explain why I think this.

1. How many times do we need to see Joseph in tears over his Father's death-bed wish that he should live his dream? OK, if the producers felt the need to do this, how about balancing things up with the equally emotional telephone call from Jodie's dad in Dubai which was only ever shown on the B3 show, and only ever once.

2. Just when you think we have extracted the last tear soaked sympathy 'Oh he is such a lovely boy' vote from the viewers we get Joseph's long absent mother in the audience for the first time. Please! If they were such a lovey-dovey family why wasn't she beside him every step of the way, every week like J&D's family?

3. The whole Joseph & Sadie PR campaign run by Sadie's family. Sure, all the families were behind the dancers but I felt we saw and knew way too much about theirs.

4. The final straw. Sadie's wheelchair bound Grandfather. The first time it was shown it was cute. But we really didn't need it again on final night. I am sure that both Jodie and Danny (and James & Claire for that matter) have got family & friends who have made a big effort to support them but they were notably absent from the producers content of the show.

Of all the nights where the BBC had to be fair and even handed they blew it. The show became a Joseph and Sadie popularity gig and I got the feeling that Jodie sensed it.

I am sure (I hope I am right) that Graham Norton and Zoe ball were not aware of this during the show. The pressure was obviously on and they did a great job of keeping the tension high etc. But as a viewer watching what is transmitted to my screen, the production slant was definitely angled towards Sadie & Joseph.

And then there was the judging. What was Arlene thinking of when she reviewed the Jodie and Danny freestyle dance. It was in no way 'ordinary'. I was aghast that she could be so flippant with her comments at such a crucial point on the show (and indeed Jodie and Danny's lives).

And what was all that nonsense about choreography. This is a show to find DANCERS hence the title. Did I miss something? Did they change they show to 'Strictly Choreography Fever'? I think not.

Let's put it this way. If a great actor takes an audition for a role and delivers a perfect, moving rendition of a short piece that the Director is not keen on, would he reject the actor because the content was not to his taste or would he see beyond that and judge on the superb performance?

I just hope that J&D will get past this disappointment and keep dancing together. They are stars.

In short I do agree Mark. Danny & Jodie were my faves too but particularly Danny. What an amazing dancer, given more experience and exposure and he'll be like Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Bob Fosse, Nureyev rolled into one.

I was however a bit disappointed with Jodie's reaction although at the same felt really sorry for her.... so near and yet so far!

As far as Joseph & Sadie were concerned I think the judges were simply overwhelmed by the modern style execution of the cheography combined with a really funky music as opposed to the other 2 teams which I have to say even I was a bit underwhelmed by D & J "Footloose". In fact as soon as I heard they're dancing to Footloose soundtrack I went Oh NO! I just can't stand that song!

All in all I thought all the teams did an excellent job but I really hope to see Danny on a West End stage soon.

I have seen a number of posts about the way Jodie reacted to not winning and that she did not make a fuss of J&S. I think the other view needs consideration. J&S had a lot more 'air time' after the event (on B3 etc) and never once mentioned any of the other dancers. Given the win they had just enjoyed I would have thought the LEAST they could do would be to compliment all 10 finalists and especially D&J on making the contest such fun. But no, nothing.

Furthermore, throughout the show, J&S have been single minded and lacking in generosity towards any other dancers. When asked what they would miss most, Jodie said 'all the others, her friends, her chats with Claire, the great coaching of Vanessa and Kevan etc, etc'. When asked the same question, Saides response? 'I will miss having a dance studio at my disposal'!

Sorry, S&J just didnt do it for me in any way.

One thing I do agree with though, choosing Footloose as their music was a mistake for D&J. With a couple of exceptions (S&J Hustle and Dirty Dance) every dancer attempting modern disco styles to modern music got slated by the judges.

BTW, does anybody know if there are any ways to send msg to D&J. Just would like to say good luck etc.

I agree with you.As a complete non dance person, you just make up your mind who makes you think"WoW".

I'll leave it to the experts to debate the minutiae of the routines. I'm only watching for the entertainment. J & D were exceptional, I was not a Sadie fan (or Jodie for that matter) in the personality stakes.

And yet, this is the stupid thing. Without the steel core and total dedication that both of them displayed, there would be no excellence.

Yet, as RTV it's off putting. Sort of damned if you are determined to win at all costs and damned as "not taking it seriously" if you dont.
I got thoroughly fed up with all Joseph's POM (poor old me) moments. He was afforded by far and away the most air time, including BBC3,while Jodie's desperation and the "hard" way that Sadie was portrayed, all had their negatives.

Nevertheless, both couples were, to my untrained eye, hugely watchable. And isn't dance aimed at pps like me? Uneducated in dance vocab, yet instinctively knowing what is good?

So, as I'm sure D & J will be snapped up, the only thing that wll be dented is their pride. To a true prima donna, dance will overtake monetary considerations, so they'll excell.

( Or not. It's a cut throat world, this biz called "Entertainment" But doors will open)

It remains to be seen whether they will be the"real"winners of SDF.

But, a great series. Graham Norton was excellent. Much to my surprise.

I wanted Danny and Jodie to win too. I must admit to being a touch on the cynical side and when I heard what they were dancing too - and also when they said J&S were doing a street dance - I thought hum, there's more than one way to have the ones you want win. I think this was shown in the choices of dances too - S&J did not get any technical dances until the waltz (and that went well didn't it!). By giving them the jazzy up tempo numbers they were effectively given a buy into the next round. I think initially they were hoping for Cem and Gemma to go further than they did, but I kinda think that they realised that with these 2 they had - to some degree - created a monster by giving them 10's quite early on. It really is a clever way to eliminate the couples you want to go out by clever choice of dances, music and VT but then the BBC are quite good at this now having perfected the art in Fame Academy (no, no, let it go that was 2 years ago - time to move on!).
Then as Mark says there was all the other tear-jerking stuff that was really unnecessary - you forgot the cute daughter in one of the first episodes by the way!
On the BBC 3 programme with Joe Mace in the last week - on the Tuesday it was supposed to be an overview of the final and the mini-tour - but it only showed the tour in Leeds and loads of J&S stuff. Then at the end of the show they said - tomorrow we're focusing on Joseph and Sadie - even my hubby who doesn't take much interest said - I thought that was tonight!
What I would like though, is for them to do a re-visited to see how everyone is doing and to see how J&S are doing in the musical they are in - which I gather covers most dance styles, so it'll be interesting to see how they do adapting to technical dances (Oh sorry, technique isn't important ulnless you're commenting on James and Claire or Nathan and Kristy) and other peoples choreography.
Generally, I think that I wish on these shows the powers that be would have the courage of their convictions - if they think J&S (or whoever) are the best then fine - let them prove it on a level playing field without all the tinkering - it's that which bugs me more than the fact they won!

Thanks for reminding me. Yes, the more I think about it the more annoyed I feel that this whole thing became a Politically Correct popularity contest, manipulted by the BBC.

I know that all these reality things have an element of the popularity poll and to be honest, when dealing with celebs who have another career, who gives a dman if the right person doesnt win? In strictly Come Dancing, what does it matter if a well paid newsreader doesnt get to do a bit of dancing on the side? BUT, with SDF, things were different. These people had dedicated their lives (most of them) to the idea of becoming a dancer; it is all they want. In those circumstances fair play is essential.

Good point about the follow up. It would be great to know that Jodie and Danny had secured a position that fulfilled their dreams.

I can only hope that what happens often in these talent search shows will be repeated. There was some pop singer thing (I dont remember the name) that was won by some boring old f**t called Steve. He did the 'poor pityful me' routine and the TV compnay (ITV I think) pushed it to the point of sickness. In fact Sharon Osbourne, one of the judges actually had the nerve to say in the final that she was sick of the poor little boy routine, that it was all false and that people shouldnt vote for him. (Good for her!). Unfortunately the powers that be turned even that into an assault on the 'poor boy' and I suspect increased the sympathy vote. Bottom line, Stve won (Booo) had a minor hit with a boring Phil Collins cover and the band who came second, G4, had massive number one album and hits. Power to the buying public.

I can only hope that the pattern repeats for Jodie and Danny.

As a fan of past rtv the people side I always find interesting and though technically D&J were a class above and S&J had a great creative drive I felt drawn to J&C and obviously the public put J&C in 1st or 2nd the week before thus I was surprised that they didn't make the final 2 - but watching BBC3 between the Sat BBC1 shows it was obvious that the "public's darlings" storyline was not where the programme makers wanted us to go - it was the class versus street battle they wanted. This was obvious when Zoe only asked questions about 2 couples alot of the time [J&C were completely ignored in the celebrity opinions part of the show!!] and as people were still voting it bacame obvious that the public vote was being pushed in one way.
I know that D&J/S&J will get jobs because of them fitting the 'norm' more but the fact that the guy from "Burn the Floor" was expecting J&C and seemed quite happy about that makes me feel the BBC missed an opportunity to address the sizeist attitude in dance ..... that girl can dance and her enthusiasm almost made me smile [even if she couldn't do all the showy lifts that others could]. If James's dad in wheelchair had been shown on the BBC1 show might that have swung the vote for them? I hope to hear that J&C have been offered a job ..... maybe a Scottish panto [James did say he'd love that!!] I could see them being Cinders and Buttons.

PS Although very definitely not a Steve fan, he has recently had a number one album too!!

As for J&C, I agree they were great personalities but it has to be said (despite not being politically correct!) that Claire's size was a bit of a turn-off on the dancing front. Let's face it, these guys are effectively athletes. If they cannot do the deed, for whatever reason (including being a little 'fashionably' overweight) they really dont come upto the mark. If David Beckham (maybe not the best choice!) suddenly put on 4 stones and couldnt run any more, would he be kept on the pitch because the girls liked him. I dont think so.

The thing is for me they did do the deed in some dances they were superb .... they don't have to do all the dances [why should they?] and for me personally I enjoyed their performances more than the more technically accomplished because of the joy [and often humour] that showed in their dances. I would pay to watch them. The Beckham comment is not comparing like with like. Footballers can either play and deliver the goods or not. Dancers and styles can appeal to different folk thus it is not cut and dried.

On the other matter - Not surprised re Steve .... just pointing out 'some people' have gone out and put their money where there vote was .... I may question why? but it has happened.
