Should Nominations always be face to face and discussion allowed?

I think that the face to face nominations are far better than the DR ones, and I don't understand that they are still unable to discuss them.

With the producers taking more and more away from the viewers & voters to serve their own agenda, at least this will have an impact that they cannot plan for as well for.

No and no. Should always be in secret in the DR and never allowed to be discussed.

But why do you feel that's better than the alternatives?

Personally I found when nominations were allowed to be discussed it was thrilling. Fresh. Raw. Then this power was abused, groups started forming, plotting to target people. That abuse of power should be banned. But I feel there are very definitely positives and intrigue to be had if they were allowed to discuss noms after they've taken place and only up until eviction night.

However it's a bit of a Catch-22 situation on par with the 'Vote to Save' vs 'Evict' debate. I would however like to see the format shaken up a bit.

For this bunch, who pride on 'saying it like it is ' to each others faces, it seems harder for them to nominate in the DR. which is better for us, especially if it exposes them as two-faced

Maybe they should nominate in the diary room but afterwards BB should A) Reveal who's nominated & how many votes & B) for those up for eviction BB give soundbites from each of their nominations (not a clip, just announce the soundbites themselves).

Remember when Conor was in face-to-face noms - nobody except Deana had the balls to nominate the thug.

I agree with king-kong (LOL doesn't a forum make you write weird lines? )

I am happy to explain why I think secret diary room noms with no nom talk are preferable.

With f2f it seems to me there are just two possible outcomes. Either the nominated party will take it on the chin, using a variety of guises " I expected it" "I want to go anyway" etc. Or they will meet the nominee head on, it all kicks off, big row etc.

The other issue is that I feel when called upon to nominate F2F many HMs choose political reasons. I think as viewers we get more insight into what is happening in the house if HMs are confident that their noms will not be revealed because they are less guarded about their reasons.

In-secret noms give many more variables in terms of reactions. The nominated party is left guessing who it is that doesn't like them and why. There is so much scope for them to make an error about who selected them. They have no idea even how many selected them - Do all HMS want me gone or is it just a couple of them.

They may have suspicions but they can't really act on those suspicions because they are not certain. Nevertheless some do go off on one based on suspicion or let their suspicions change their interaction with others. Sometimes they do this and are quite wrong - that's quite funny.

All the guessing and second guessing has a subtle but fascinating impact on the dynamics within the house. Its more likely to produce a slow burn than a big flash.

No. Paranoia is far better to watch than out and out bitching for the sake of it.

I'd rather nominations never be face-to-face, nevermind always.

Yes and for this reason it should always be secret and in the diary room. Punishments for discussing it should be quick and make then think twice about breaking the rule too.

One thing that really, really annoyed me was during the series when they allowed them to discuss nominations and then after about 4 weeks they suddenly decided that they couldn't. It was such a good series with people like Lydia and Deana really going all out to play the game and the whole mystery as to whether they were actually on each other's side or playing each other. Lydia especially was playing it so well, but then they told them they couldn't discuss noms and all the work she had put in went down the drain. Generally I prefer if noms discussion is not allowed, but I would have liked if for just one series as they allowed them to as it would have been something different. Allowing them to do it for 4 weeks and then deciding they couldn't was ridiculous...they should have allowed them to do it for the duration of the series.
