Great !!

Bought my wife a new phone for her birthday (that's coming in a couple of weeks)
Requires a nano SIM, her present SIM (that's registered in my name) is a micro.

No problem I thought, yesterday, I went to here

https://explore.ee.co.uk/order-a-new-SIM

And ordered a nano SIM, confirmation came back that it was on its way, and when
it arrives go line again again to activate it.

Well, guess what, this morning the wife's phone is saying 'No Service' , I reboot it etc etc and still dead. I've just phoned T-Mobile and they say it's been disabled because
I've ordered a new SIM. The new SIM will arrive pre-activated.

I exploded. That's not what it says on the on line form, or the information I received on ordering. Then the CS droid said as recompense she'd waive the 10 quid charge !!!

What 10 quid charge ?! I asked, the one for supplying a new SIM she said !!!!

Useless useless tossers the lot of them....

Please show me on the webpage where you order one, where it says that ?

And while you're at it, where it says the existing SIM will be killed, before you activate the new one ?

Some networks do charge, i recently lost my sim on talkmobile,i requested to send me replacement, but after waiting 10 days i called back again and they said i have to pay £15 for sim replacement. The prices are not mentioned in their T&C but yes they do mention that there is a charge for replacement sim.

Well, as no one can point me towards where in the ordering process that is mentioned,
I will consider the charge to be deception by EE. Quite honestly I'm more annoyed by the old card being switched off before I'd asked it to be (and in fact before the new one has even arrived),

I'd like to think once BT take control of EE, all this incompetence will be swept away, but of course it won't be, just replaced with a different brand of incompetence and deception.

As you fill in the form and select your network the cost of £10.20 becomes clear for you to see. https://explore.ee.co.uk/Order-a-new-SIM

Whilst no expert on this particular subject this sort of high-handed treatment is typical of today's so-called customer service.

If we allow ourselves to be charged little extras and suffer little (or in this case big) inconveniences then this sort of thing just goes on getting worse and worse.

Which is why a) I don't have anything better than a 2G phone and b) if someone tried this on me they'd lose my business instantly.

Fight 'em Mark C!!! (or set SWMBO onto them, might be even more fun!)

Thank you, you're quite right the charge notice does appear, but I notice only after you've
entered what network you're on. My error for not noticing yesterday.

It's cynical sharp practice, rather like the airlines that added a credit card surcharge, after you'd started the process of buying your ticket,

Anyway, as I say I'm far more annoyed by the cancellation cock up.

This is my last straw with them, PAC request coming in June, so it'll be their fcuking loss

its just something they have always done, i had a SIM simply stop working about 10 years ago and they added £10 to my bill even though it was nothing to do with me.

The SIM charge is not universal though.

I swapped out my T-Mobile Combi SIM for a Mini SIM in an EE shop when I bought my iPhone 6 Plus. I asked if it would incur a charge but the till system let it go through FOC. The next T-Mobile bill had an entry "Replacement Smart Card" with £0.00 in the price column.

A SIM swap for my EE iPad Mobile Broadband did incur a £10 replacement charge however the EE shop put £10 credit on a PAYG SIM for me to use up

AIUI, instore they don't charge for the replacement (or can process the change without charging if they want to).

T-Mobile have always activated the new sim and deactivated the old sim as soon as the order was processed and posted if ordered online or through CS. This has been the procedure since at least 1999.

Wow I had no idea they charged for sim replacements. EE seemed perfectly happy to send out thousands of free sims loaded with 200GB of 4G data, but if you are a paying customer you have to pay £10 for a new sim.

I think EE have the best network in the UK but this kind of business makes me think twice about switching to them.

EE also charge I believe, but are capable of sending out SIMs that are not active, and only activated when you call to activate. Orange was similar, so it seems an odd T-Mobile policy.

They may be one network, but not one business - still 3 different ways of working.

I swapped SIMs twice recently, once with T-Mobile, and then again with EE.

TM we're going to charge £20 for a new SIM, so I emailed customer services and the charge never happened. I then swapped 2 phones to a cheaper tariff on EE and they didn't charge for the SIMs at all.

The confirmation they sent me when I ordered the new SIM, was to this page

http://************/lshuksa

Does rather imply that you activate the new SIM, when you're ready ?
