Yeah as long as I don't touch alcohol again basically.
Technically the seizures can happen to anyone, people can binge drink and it can happen although it generally happens when people have drank a lot for a long period of time.
Believe it or not, if you go to a doctor and say you've been drinking heavily and want to stop, the first thing they'll say is that whatever you do, don't stop drinking.

Basically next to some benzos and opiates, alcohol is the only drug that can kill you when withdrawing from it. So you've either got to taper down gradually or do it medically supervised, otherwise you run the risk of seizures which can be fatal.

Then don't, it isn't worth it.

Hope all goes well for you.

Well sometimes you need to hit rock bottom to realize what a bad situation you're in. I keep the photos on my phone just as a reminder!

Anyway, back to the lovely Katie Hopkins!

Yup. Sometimes you need to hit rock bottom to make you realise it isn't nice down there and the only way is up.

Yes I was sometimes involved with alcoholism and drug addiction in my work.

Many psychoactive drugs are addictive and should be tapered down slowly. Often more slowly than Psychiatrists and GP's recommend IMO.

At one time patients would be taken off any drugs and alcohol without any tapering.
Damned cruel and very dangerous.

Good luck for staying off the alcohol. You've done very well.

I actually posted about it in the 'general discussion' forum too, saying how it's pretty amazing that the most dangerous aspect of the most widely used drug in the country isn't known to most people.
I guess the people who make money from alcohol don't want people knowing more than the obvious dangers they already know about!

The dangers of alcohol withdrawal did come out a bit when Amy Winehouse died. I think it was confirmed as alcohol poisoning in the end but at the time they thought her death was due to withdrawal.

But getting back to epilepsy, I'd really like to know more about Katie H's dealings with it.
On one hand I think she must have regular Grand Mal seizures despite the meds she is on, on the other hand I think it might just be a precaution just in case.
I'm surprised none of the other housemates have mentioned it anyway.
