You are absolutely right. People generally have short memories - they can remember what happened in a factual sense but not so well how they felt about a certain person at that time. This means that how people feel about someone can be manipulated quite easily, particularly in the context of a show like BB where there is complete control over what viewers are permitted to see.
The most simple method that they use to manipulate viewers is also one of the most effective: they present a person in a good light who has previously been shown in a bad light. This tricks the viewer into remembering positive events about this person and less negative events; when they do remember negative events, they will perceive these as less negative than originally. This is why you have seen so many comments along the lines of 'Perez isn't as bad as I thought'. So even though you know that you dislike Perez, you may not be able to remember why..
It's as well to remember that your thoughts and opinions are essentially being hacked when it comes to 'programs' like BB
