I must have blinked and missed her 'GAME ON' with Perez.

Oh, he definitely acts like a human. Sad to say, no other species indulges in such provocative, pre-meditated, attention-seeking behaviour.

He's all too human. As are his equally sorry antagonists.

That type of attitude is internalised homophobia in its most virulent form. Basically replacing the heterosexual community's direct oppression of LGBT people with an indirect pernicious form.

I thought it was Elton John

I just find Michelle really patronising. She's a judge on a drag show, isn't drag in itself a small part of the "gay community" of which she speaks. If she's all for equality for gay people it should include all, not just those she herself deems worthy of not setting the cause back 50 years. And calling someone "that", whatever happened to the championing the misfits? She's just making herself look more and more phoney every day.

I find the way she speaks as offensive as if I'd heard someone call a homosexual person a derogatory name.

She's a vile tongued wanna be,

Empowerment should be key in any cause surely.

Makes me laugh, drag is part of the world as a whole!
I know quite a few heterosexual drag artists, both male and female. She's got fabulous legs, hi I'm Paul... Er I'll get my coat.

Sorry but wtf does that even mean? There is a real danger when a marginalised community allows itself to implode over meaningless nonsense.

Wow, thanks, I didn't know that. Seems absurd when there's such a shortage of blood and organs.

Me too. Not in 1980 I mean, but just a bit after that, before things 'improved'. Paying the price now.

Exactly. There is still a lot of discrimination. Personally I find Michelle's stance kind of ... non existent. Just because she wears the t-shirt don't mean shit.

It seems that the so-called epidemic of the 80's was the reason the ban was brought in but now we are better informed and there is not much more risk than in the general population so there's a campaign to reverse the ban and have a simple blood test for all donors before they give blood.

She seems quite ignorant about this country really, as though she's just picked up bits here and there and has adopted a pose that she thinks will get support. We're a long way from real equality but we do have a very vibrant and politicised gay community, I'm sure they don't need an American spokesperson.

I get that impression too. I cringed when I saw the massive Union Jack earrings. I can imagine telling her I come from Edinburgh Scotland and she'd say 'oh cool, that's near Ireland, yeah?'. Maybe this experience will be a good reality check for her.

Actually another thought - maybe she watches too much Downton Abbey!

Why must she equate everything to his sexuality? What's that got to do with anything?

She can only see through the lens of "gay".

Basically she's doing more harm than good in a subtle way.

Take two:

Even though Michelle is not actually Gay, I'm referencing her as such due to her repeated statements that she is there on behalf of LGBT people.

Some LGBT people take the homophobia directed at them from the heterosexual community, and absorb it (metaphorically) and then throw out the now internalised homophobia at other LGBT people. They are basically being homophobic themselves.

For the person on the receiving end, it's an even greater head fudge than homophobia from heterosexuals, as s/he will then feel that their 'own' are basically also rejecting them. So this homophobia is even more virulent than the one from the hetero. community.

I'm not sure if 'take two' actually helps to explain my original post or makes it even more 'clear as mud' ?

That's obviously what she's doing by ostracising Perez...

She's now even gonna empower us Brits by being our voice.

Messiah Michelle has arrived for the British Peeple.

Honestly it's as clear as mud to me right now and sounds very tortured but it is 2am and I've necked a bottle and half of Pinot G. But I promise to read it again tomorrow. It's very interesting.

I don't often get offended on someone else's behalf, this is more a case of her offending me, she's speaks on behalf of "The Gays" as a 70's 80's comic spoke about "The Blacks"
