She claims herself it's not done for affect:

Quote:
“Do you really believe all of the things that you say? That's an easy way to dismiss someone. I completely understand why it would be comfortable to dismiss someone who is disagreeing with something you're saying as 'just doing it for effect'. But I think that's simplistic, because you would have to question why some gobby blonde bird from the south west of England says something that gets 17 million people viewing it. You have to be savvier than it just being controversial. It has to connect with something that a lot of people think or definitely don't think. So something like me saying, "I would never call my child Tyler because that's a ridiculous name", we know that a lot of us think that when we call our child Hector or Sebastian; we have an idea of where that name will take us in life. - See more at: http://bigbrother.channel5.com/house....xotle5Yl.dpuf”

There's also the problem of the big contradiction that you can't say that 'she's just telling it how it is' or that she's 'just being honest',...but at the same time say that she's just joking or putting on an act.

The two ideas are completely contradictory to each other and it doesn't make sense to say that both of them are true.

Mind you that's something else which has a Big Brother connection to George Orwell's novel 1984. In the book he coins a term he calls 'doublethink', which is an idea where people somehow simultaneously accept two mutually contradictory beliefs as correct at the same time.

Quote:
“The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them... To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just as long as it is needed”

That's how people can claim she's nice when she stands there telling people to their faces that they are thick/worthless/despicable etc.

Exactly, her fans won't take any notice of this though.

What - are you suggesting her supporters are fat, ginger, on the dole and have children named Tiffany and Chardonnay?

I haven't seen many posts actually saying that she's nice. People wouldn't say that about John Lydon (just an example) either, but what people like is definite opinions that you can agree or disagree with. Being "nice" especially in the BB house is quite boring for the viewers.

Wow, it's 2015 and you still find it hard to cope with people having a different opinion to yours.

Why does she not go after the bankers and financiers who have effed up the world, people ask? Well, she admires them for being ruthless takers, and would probably choose to be one if she could actually do maths.

She's Thatcher-lite. I was reading a clip from an article on here the other day in which she proudly admitted to being a snob and stated that she doesn't see the point in social mobility. Why not just hand the top jobs straight to the 'clever' ones from the top private schools? Why bother spending loads of money trying to educate the lower orders and give them a chance, when all the chances should be given to the children of those who already have plenty of advantages?

So, if you went to a state school and ever had any ambition to better yourself, in supporting KH you are a turkey voting for Christmas.

She's the self appointed mouthpiece of the Tory elite, and that's why I find it so puzzling that anyone on here would support her, as it would surprise me greatly to learn that her supporters on this forum went to Eton or Charterhouse.

Wise up, sheeple. ”

Lol, good post.

I'm not a big follower of CBB.

But Katie Hopkins reminds me of the old fashioned Headmistress/Mother Superior type.

People who years and years ago didn't know any better.

A bit of a Dinosaur perhaps.

Again, nice try. The overuse of smiley faces designed to infuriate someone. Sadly, that doesn't work with me.
D minus.

You're missing the point.

You are very funny with your comments. One can't help but laugh.

You have me in stitches to be honest.

You go around the threads criticising other posters for having a different opinion to yours and then you tell them they have trouble coping with those who have a different opinion to theirs.

Can you not see how funny that is???

I agree entirely, I have seen quite a few posts on here from FM whom I have respected over the years and very much enjoyed their posts and opinions. However, the same posters have said they support Hopkins whilst completely disregarding the insulting things she says. I have been very surprised that they do not seem to see the hurt that she causes,

As I have said previously, Hopkins may indeed win and mark my words further down the line, we shall soon have a lot of FM complaining they wished she hadn't won as Hopkins will now think she has GBP backing and a red light to say and do as she likes regardless of the hurt she causes.

Used to bother me that others disregarded the hurtful things she said, now I just laugh as this woman whom I have seen posters refer to as queen Katie Hopkins, would not even give these people the time of day if she met them, would totally disregard and look down her nose at them. Funny really.

People on this forum need to understand that each and every one has a right to their opinions. For me, Katie Hopkins is a wonderful, intelligent, funny lady and I really hope she wins. Oh and I totally agree with everything she says! As for the Ebola comment, where is your sense of humour... chill out

All I can say is that she is actually worse than I thought she would be, her views and opinions are absolutely vile. I have stopped watching now as that patronising, baby voice she has just goes right through me and I just cant stand the sight or sound of her any more.

I am at a loss over the support for Hopkins. Too many people on this forum are dazzled by the odd 'funny quip' she has made without examining the the nastiness that lurks beneath. Take her comment about Patsy 'spreading peace and love while looking like a french onion seller'. Well maybe Patsy's attire did look rather french but what is wrong with wanting to spread peace and love? It's far preferable than wanting to spread bigotry and hatred. Beneath all of Hopkins remarks like this lurks a sneering attitude (mainly towards people less fortunate than herself).

I am also at a loss to understand the need to be 'less PC' as if this is some sort of problem. I for one am pleased that we have laws protecting people from racism and homophobia and long may it continue. As soon as political correctness goes out of the window the floodgates are opened to a tide of bigotry.

Are you actually hurt by what she says then, or are you just reacting on behalf of the people that you feel should be hurt by what she says?

You have gone to A&E with a splinter of glass in your eye. You enter the treatment room. Who would you rather see waiting to treat you - Katie or Nadia?

Nadia definitely although I would hope she had some medical training .
She would probably cook you a nice meal too.

I find it very strange that people can dislike Helen and then like Katie Hopkins. Helen is rated as the worst winner ever by the majority of this forum, but they like Katie Hopkins

I believe Katie may have had a hard upbringing. and that's why she is angry with the world. and is also the reason why she hates to see anybody happy. because she's not happy within herself.

I bought 4 faggots from Aldi's today. they haven't had any for the last couple of months.

Perhaps there was a certain snobbishness involved in the dislike of Helen?

People who believe that she is putting it all on just for publicity and that she doesn't really mean it need to stop deluding themselves, the woman is a nasty piece of work.

All of her opinions always seem to upset people. Maybe she is just jealous. She is a 40 year old woman who looks like a 70 year old, maybe she is bitter about it so has to put other people down. She attacks fat people, ginger people, her own daughters looks, women who get plastic surgery, women who look good, poor people and she just happens to get with 3 different men who are married, maybe she is so bitter and twisted that she can't stand to see other people happy so she ruins their lives.

Even if it was an all an act, which it isn't, the things she says are still really hurtful to people. It's like me going up to a black person and calling them the N word, or going up to a gay person and calling them a faggot and then saying "it's ok, it's all just an act". No, it's still very wrong.

She talks about the world being too PC. I agree, it is too PC, but the only reason she uses this excuse is so she can keep being the bitter nasty person that she is. It really is pathetic that people celebrate this kind of person. It's seems to be a common thing these days.”

Hopkins definitely sets out to provoke others when she starts with her controversial comments. What she says is so ridiculous that it can only be classed as laughable. She doesn't like ginger haired babies and she thinks that all fat people should just go on a diet. Sigh...
