ok... i'll bite.
SD card support hasn't been removed. I now await your two paragraph essay where you attempt to explain how SD card support has been stripped back and isnt the same as it was etc... |

In fact, it could just as easily be for the opposite reason - people who dislike what Apple stand for and their increasingly crazy market leading "style over substance at crazy prices" position..

I'm not sure anyone has ever argued that apple don't have razor thin profits. Their margins are well know and reported every quarter.
I would not however relate level of margin to a product being overpriced. Pricing power is very important to a company and profit benefits everyone. Sony are still making a profit. I tell you there's none as blind as those that will not see and a fool and his money are soon parted. Both apply equally when it comes to buying an iPhone. All that cash simply so you can claim to be part of the collective - geez

tdenson writes ..........However, I buy iPhones because the total package is the best value proposition for me - combination of hardware, software and ecosystem.
Please explain the above sentence for me. As an Apple owner myself I've never really understood what that means. |

Most industry pundits put the Xperia Z3 Compact right up there in terms of quality and functionality with the iPhone 6 - some say it is actually better and yet it's hundreds of pounds cheaper.

Have they thought about charging more for them. |

If that is your reason for buying the produce then I feel quite sorry for you.

40% markup and you feel sorry for me? I myself own some Apple products but for me the iPhone is the ultimate con, a bridge to far.
I feel your pain. I'm not feeling any pain, so don't worry about me. As for a 40% markup, I assume you don't buy food or clothes

In fact, it could just as easily be for the opposite reason - people who dislike what Apple stand for and their increasingly crazy market leading "style over substance at crazy prices" position. I mean, their supposedly high tech stuff doesn't even have SD card or Micro SD card slots for simple and cheap memory expansion, how CRAZY is that, that people stiill get sucked in. <shakes head disbelieveingly>
But of course, on this occasion, it was in fact started by an Apple fanboi-style post that's oddly ever so pleased that Apple users are paying over the odds for their lacking-in-basic-expansion-slot devices in order to generate such huge profits. Strange logic. As for "style over substance" - style and substance are not mutually exclusive. There was nothing fanboi about the OP, or anything about being pleased about anything. Obviously expansion slots are not high on the list of things most people look for in a phone. If they were, Apple wouldn't sell as many phones as they do. |

Yes I have finished.
![]() But my SD card slot comments follow a request from younger family members recently who wanted help to upgrade their iphones and tablets to larger memory versions, at a cost of hundreds of pounds. One micro SD card slot would have solved the problem at a cost of less than £20. There must be millions of iphone/pad owners in much the same situation. Apple Proprietory Inc. definitely know how to make money but that doesn't necessarily make it a good thing for the consumer. [/end edits] ![]() So just to clarify - Apple manage to sell more phones by not giving consumers what they want? That sounds a little counter intuitive to me. |

Only one side of these discussions seems to come out with this sort of crazy. |

So just to clarify, your argument against any point made around features etc is "it can't be true or important because Apple sell xx amount of phones"
![]() My argument is not that some features are important, and that others are not important. My argument is that any feature an iPhone doesn't have probably isn't one considered to be that important by the people buying them. |

I was going to start a thread about this before anyone else had posted about it but changed my mind because I knew what would happen, with the thread likely to be locked. The usual suspect has come out of hibernation and the same old arguments as usual
Why don't you start one about Samsungs results they announced yesterday, I'm sure it will be fine

You can get the Dell one for £1254 online. Also the Dell is 27" rather than the 21" of the Apple 5k iMac at £2000
Might want to check your prices next time! They're still quoting $2499 and £1906 on their UK site. The 5K iMac is 27". If you're going to tell someone to check their facts, you might want to check your own next time.
